Bangkok

Bangkok is one of the most exciting cities in the world and is a hub of all things food, offering everything from street food vendors to fine dining. It is one of the greatest street food cities and when exploring the city, there is an abundance of delicious things to eat everywhere you look!

Possibly Bangkok’s most famous street food vendor is Jay Fai, who earned herself a Michelin star for the quality of her food. The restaurant is usually booked out a month or two in advance so it’s worth arriving first thing in the morning to try and get on the walk-in list. Make sure to try the crab omelette, the stall’s most famed dish.

The best areas for foodies in Bangkok include: • Chinatown: offering a great mixture of Thai and Chinese favourites, there are many street food vendors and tiny restaurants here and the cute tea shops are perfect for taking a break • Chatuchak: at the weekend you’ll find a great selection of food within the gigantic market as well as a food court where you can enjoy ready-made meals such as som tam (spicy papaya salad) and khanom krok • Thonglor: for an upmarket meal and less of the street food opportunities, head to Thonglor where you’ll find Thai, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and American dishes, among others • Khlong Toei: head here for a real taste of local Thai food with prices that won’t break the bank. You can also visit the biggest wet market in Bangkok and see where many restaurants source their fish and seafood.
