Cruise the Galápagos Islands

9 nights from £3669 per person

Snorkel near sea lions, hike up the Galápagos Islands’ most recently active volcano, kick back on white-sand beaches, and witness vast bird rookeries, including red-footed boobies and frigate birds. This epic tour takes in some of this highly protected destination’s lesser-visited islands, including Genovesa and Isabela. A small-ship adventure for a total of only 16 passengers, it’s accompanied by an accredited naturalist guide.

• In Elizabeth Bay, venture out on pangas (inflatable, motorised dinghies) to explore the shallows and mangroves to spot sea turtles and penguins.

• Visit Urbina Bay at the base of the Alcedo volcano or go trail hiking to see land tortoises and land iguanas in the wild.

• Take a trip to the red-sand beaches of Rábida Island with its lagoon and sea lion colony, and snorkel with tropical fish.

• View the tiny conical island of Daphne from your boat, with its nesting blue-footed boobies, frigate birds, and Darwin's finches.

• Opt to tour Quito with its UNESCO-listed Old Town and take a trip north of it to the Middle of the World – latitude 0º – to stand with one foot in each hemisphere.
