Auckland

What a stunning city. I stayed in the Grand Chancellor in Auckland City Centre. There is another one out at the airport but what a cracking location the city centre one has. It is just down from Sky City and just up from the marina where all the ferries to Davenport and Waiheke (to name a few) leave from.

The room was a reasonable size, clean and modern. There was a small kitchen area and a small balcony. There are harbour view apartments that you can book as well. The staff were very friendly and eager to help.

I went up to Sky City and up the tower. It had brilliant views of the city and it was only 28 dollars. They have a bar and restaurant up at the top and you can also jump off if you feel inclined.

Sky City is a must do. There are also lots of bars and restaurants around the hotel from Mexican to Indian. The food is superb.

I took the ferry over to Waiheke. It’s about 40 minutes away but a great ferry ride and Waiheke is a stunning place. We ate at The Oyster Inn which is worth a visit.

This is a place I will return to. It has lots to offer and everything is reasonable priced. Watch out for taxi’s who may rip you off from the airport to the city centre. We got stung for 100 dollars and the return was only 35 dollars. Agree the price first. It should be about 40 dollars.
