Cancun

I recently travelled on the ‘Oasis of the Seas’ and took the excursion to Cancun. It was only a 45 minute ferry ride from Cozumel to the mainland and then an hour on a coach. The coach ride was very informative and stopped at a beautiful beach just before Cancun.

Cancun has some stunning hotels. They line the beautiful white beach all the way up the coastline, which is right on the border between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The centre is very lively with lots of bars and restaurants. Although I was not there at night, there are plenty of nightclubs ready to attract everyone in with many drinks and other specials.

I found the people very friendly and helpful. They love a laugh and are always willing to help. The food is superb. If you love Mexican food then there are plenty restaurants for you but there are the usual food outlets as well.

There are lots of markets offering things for tourists. I found the vendors quite pushy so watch your belongings and be strong and of course negotiable if you do fancy something. They all take US dollars but I found that their own currency, pesos, is better value for money. Be aware that if you pay in dollars you will get change in pesos. There are legitimate currency exchanges but they take a fee for changing so have a clear idea what currency you need and how you are going to use it.

The beach in Cancun is the best I have seen. It’s so white and clean and the sea is so clear. In summary I would go back. I really enjoyed the day and would love to see more.
