Dubai

I had a wonderful few days at The Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. It’s only a 25 minute cab ride from the airport and the cabs are really cheap and plentiful in Dubai. The Jumeirah Beach is in front of the Burj Al Arab the 7 star wonder Hotel. I had a look round but not much to see apart from the amazing entrance.

During my stay I visited a few markets and malls. The Dubai Mall is massive but worth a visit as there are some great bargains to be had. Also within the Dubai Mall is the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. We booked online to visit and it only cost 125 Dirhams. If you just turn up and try and book it will cost you 400 Dirhams. Amazing place.

I had a great day doing the Desert Safari. It’s quite a long excursion with a pick up at 1545hrs and drop off at 2200hrs. You do the 4x4 drive over the dunes which is quite exhilarating. Be careful though as it can get a bit sickly. Then it’s a BBQ in the desert with entertainment etc. The food was actually pretty good. Unlimited soft drinks but alcohol is on sale at reasonable prices.

The Jumeirah Hotel is superb. The rooms are big with magnificent views over the Ocean and onto the Burj Al Arab. The breakfast has to be seen to be believed. Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Indian etc. monumental! Alcohol is on the expensive side but there are plenty of bars in the hotel and poolside. The staff were very friendly and eager to help. The temperatures in June made it a bit too hot and it gets hotter in July and August so these months are best avoided if possible.
