I left Edinburgh on the 19th of September for a week in the 5- star Miraggio Thermal Resort and Spa.

I went with Jet2 out of Edinburgh to Thessaloniki. It’s a 3.5-hour flight and the service was pretty good.

We arrived at the airport and our complimentary transfer was waiting for us. The only problem was we had to wait an hour on another two people coming in from Stansted. It was then another 90-minute transfer. Eventually we arrived at the stunning resort and they did put some cold sandwiches etc in the room. The rooms were superb. We had a Junior Suite with Garden View but very modern with a separate lounge area and large balcony.

The next day it was down to breakfast and the buffet is superb. There’s a great choice.

It was then down to the beach. It’s a nice area but a bit stony which did not help getting into the sea. We decided to try the large pool area instead.

Dinner was again amazing with a very large choice. There are a la carte restaurants to use for a supplement but the buffet was very good. Alcohol was not the cheapest with a small beer at around £7.

They had good entertainment on each night as well but it was all very quiet by around 11pm.

The next day we used their free shuttle bus into the local town Pefkochori. This is a really busy little town with lots of shops and tavernas. The beers were now down to £2 for a large bottle and food was even cheaper. I stocked up and went back to the resort.

The rest of the week was the same with time at the beach, Pefkochori and also the amazing spa. It was a great experience in the Thalasso pools and a lovely way of chilling after a hard day. All the pools in the resort and spa are sea water.

A great week with lovely, friendly people and amazing food. The only downside is the isolation and long transfers.
