The Beautiful City of Marrakesh

21 October 2019

In my opinion one of the best cities in the world! Marrakech is a beautiful, bustling, and magical city just a short flight from London or Manchester, no more than 3 hours and 30 minutes. An all year-round destination, however, the best times to visit Marrakech are from March to June and between September to November, with desirable weather even into the later months and with July being the hottest month in Marrakech and January being the coldest. Marrakech has lots to offer from first class Riads, to first class hotels, top quality dining; or good food in the Souk Market, where a variety of local dishes on offer at very reasonable prices. Marrakech boasts a full Medina, which is the heart of the old Marrakech, Souks (Markets) and amazing treasures all to be found. There is something for everyone from crafts, foods, culture and history. The Moroccan Dirham is the currency of Morocco, easy to change at the airport on arrival. There is so much to do and visit in Marrakech, you will be met by friendly and warm people. There is lots to do and perhaps all not possible in one visit. Here are my top 10 places to visit during your stay in the beautiful City of Marrakech; in no particular order. 1. Jemaa El- Fnaa, is the magical Moroccan square and market place, one of the main tourist attractions, in the Old City of Marrakech. Everything is going on here, from food selling, clothes, arts and crafts in the famous Souks of Marrakech. As night falls the square becomes even more lively with dancers, magic and hustling; a place that you will either love or hate but worth a visit. 2. A visit to a Hammam, A Moroccan Hammam Spa treatment involving a soak in a pool or sit in a steam room then rinsed and exfoliated and massaged. 3. The Saadian Tombs, the final resting place for the many rulers and members of the Saadi dynasty. 4. Go trekking in the Atlas Mountains and visit a Berber village and family. 5. The Majorelle Garden, a two and a half acre Botanical Garden. 6. If you have less time a day or night visit to the Agfay Desert, also known as the Hidden Gem of Marrakech; very close to Marrakech, a stony desert and that chance to experience peace and tranquillity, or if time permits a trip to the Sahara Desert. 7. The Koutoubia Mosque, the largest Mosque in Marrakech, also known for its beautiful architecture 8. A visit to Morocco cannot be complete without a stay in a traditional riad 9. A visit to the famous Le Foundouk restaurant, visited by famous clientele. Book early to be seated on the roof top terrace. 10. Last but not least, Marrakech is the ideal place for that perfect wedding, honeymoon or hen parties in the sun with that experience of culture. For the best hotels and Riads to stay in, please give me a call to discuss your requirements.
