The magic of Disney

The magic of Disney never ceases to amaze, regardless of the number of times you have visited or the age you are. This could never have been truer when I was recently a chosen winner in the Disney Olaf competition and one of 20 agents who were lucky to spend three days, with their partners, at Disneyland Paris as part of a frozen summer familiarisation trip. Travelling by Eurostar on a Sunday morning we were, within two hours, in the park and experiencing all of the wonders, both old and new, that Disney has to offer. Despite approaching its 25th anniversary in 2017, and going through an extensive make over in preparation for those celebrations, the two parks continue to provide magical moments and experiences for both young and old.

The Frozen singalong show, held in the chaparral theatre in Frontierland several times each day, continues to pack in the crowds. Elsa and Anna, together with Olaf the snowman, treat everyone to their magical story. Complete with ‘Disney’ snow, to the delight of the young, and not so young, who very actively partake in the entire performance. We were particularly honoured later that same day when a private reception was arranged with the two princesses, which enabled excellent photographic opportunities and special, personalised video messages for young fans at home.

Accommodation was provided in the newly refurbished Newport Bay hotel, a four star hotel providing high grade service, which epitomises the high quality accommodation across all value ranges in the park. There were many highlights to the trip, amongst them the above mentioned Frozen singalong show, which UK Disney Destinations staff led admirably by knowing all the words and demonstrating all the actions with great gusto. The Wild West meal show, held twice each evening and involving live bison, horses and stunning performers was another hugely successful evening of boisterous noise and fun.

The sparkling lights, laser and fireworks extravaganza against the castle backdrop, which Disney manage to successfully improve year on year, brought a magnificent end to the second day. It evokes many happy memories of the classic Disney films across, two and three generations using the most technologically advanced processes currently available.

The three days disappeared in the blink of an eye and we were soon back on the Eurostar speeding our way back towards reality. So, if you haven't visited Disneyland Paris for a year or two, or you have thought that theme parks are ‘not your thing’, it's time to plan that journey and experience the Disney Magic. Disney offer many different travel and hotel options as well as meal vouchers which can make big savings for your clients.

So it's time to pack up your casual clothes, rekindle your childhood spirit and make the short journey across the channel to experience a short break with a difference. Laughter, smiles and large doses of escapism are guaranteed. Children are a useful, but not obligatory, accessory.
