Christmas in the UK

Claire Summers on 23 December 2019
Last year over Christmas we stayed in a hot tub cottage on the Norfolk broads. Travelling from Kent to East Anglia is much quicker at Christmas time than travelling to the South West so this year we decided to do it again but stay in a different area. We stayed at Head Fen Country Retreat near Ely, Cambridgeshire.

They have a few log lodges set around a very peaceful fishing lake. They have private hot tubs overlooking the lake and our cabin had an outside sauna as well.

They are furnished to a very high spec with a corner sofa, smart TV with Amazon Prime and Netflix included, everything you need in the kitchen plus an added bonus of Bluetooth speakers in the sauna. Our lodge was 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin with a sofa turning into a bed in the lounge to accommodate 6 people.

They also allowed pets as well, although there is no sign any pets had been in there. The lodges have only been built this year (2019) so they are nice and new.

The view from the decking, which has a table and chairs too, is just so peaceful. The swans come to see you in the morning and the sunrises were amazing.

Ely is just a 10 min drive away and Cambridge approx 30 mins, so you can go and explore should you wish to.

We were very comfortable in the lodge and you would be hard pushed to find such luxury at the price and the beautiful peaceful setting, believe me I have looked and it is quite rare to get this combination.

If you would like any more information, just let me know and I can help book any breaks in the UK so pop me a message for a no obligation quotation.
