Skiing with Club Med

Claire Summers on 24 November 2019
In late November 2019, I travelled with 14 other Travel Counsellors to Val Thorens, France for a ski trip and to stay at the Club Med property.

Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe and even going in late November, which is a little early for the ski season, there was plenty of snow and good skiing to be had. Club Med is an all-inclusive property so all food, drinks, ski lessons, ski hire and lift passes are included in the holiday cost.

This particular hotel, although accepts children, is not really set up for children, there are no kids facilities or entertainment so if you do have children they would need to entertain themselves. As with all Club Med properties, it is a lively property with day time music and evening entertainment.

It is a ski in/out property with all the ski equipment, lockers etc directly in the hotel and the ski lifts come straight into the hotel. The rooms are modern and bright, tea/coffee facilities included and everything you need, hairdryer, safe etc. My room faced the beautiful mountains so the view was amazing. The food is superb, there is so much to choose from and caters to any dietary requirements, you certainly wont go hungry here. The ski instructors are patient and start from absolute beginners to experienced guides. The vibe around the hotel is friendly and the service is great.

The town of Val Thorens is small and can be walked around in about 15 mins, it is so picturesque with the mountains in the background. There are restaurants, takeaway places and a bar or two plus an ESF ski school.

Val Thorens is approx 2.5 hours from Geneva airport. Chambery Airport is closer but Chambery doesn't always have as many flights as Geneva and their flight schedule doesn't start until later in the season. The transfer from Geneva may seem a long time but the scenery is stunning along the way, especially driving around Lake Annecy. We had some beginners up to very experienced skiers and all were catered for and had a great time.

I am happy to provide more information and quote for any type of ski trip, from low budget to high end, so please pop me a message.
