Summer Holiday in Kos

Kos is a fantastic place for a summer holiday, and it is a very pretty island. Long and thin, it is only 2km wide at is narrowest point! Kos is only just over 3 hours flight time from the UK, so not too far if you are travelling with children.

I stayed at the all-inclusive Gaia Palace hotel in Mastichiari. A short transfer of 20 minutes from the airport was perfect for us and before long we were checked in and sat by the pool. The pool area is large and has a separate children's paddling area with fountain. There is a pool bar which serves drinks and snacks through the day and ice cream is available for children too.

There is one main restaurant at the hotel, serving a wide choice of food and a separate children's buffet each evening (fish fingers, chicken nuggets and chips etc). Self-serve beer and wine, coke/lemonade and water are available too.

There is entertainment each evening although we didn't partake as we had a little boy who needed to get to bed early.

Our room was large and kept very clean. The balcony overlooked one of the several pools onsite and was in a lovely, quiet location.

We took a boat trip and swam in the sea, we also took an island tour and learnt about the honey production and wineries which are on the island. We stopped for lunch at a beautiful town called Zia in the mountains and had a delicious lunch of Gyros (my favourite!) and Greek salad.

All in all, a wonderfully relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings, highly recommended!
