A Day in Dublin – Sunrise to Sunset

Katie Hall on 01 July 2025
Sometimes the best adventures are the spontaneous ones! Recently, I took an extreme day trip to Dublin, flying out on the first flight of the morning and back home on the last flight that night. It was a whirlwind 12 hours of Irish charm, great food, and a whole lot of walking!

With only a day to explore, I hit the ground running. After a quick coffee on Grafton Street, I wandered through the beautiful grounds of Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, then strolled across the River Liffey to Temple Bar for some live music and classic Irish pub atmosphere. Lunch was hearty fish and chips (with a pint, of course!) before heading to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Dublin Castle for a dose of history. I even squeezed in a visit to the Guinness Storehouse before heading back to the airport, tired but grinning from ear to ear.

My Top Tips for a Dublin Day Trip

☀️ Take the first flight out: You’ll want every hour possible, Dublin’s compact size makes it perfect for a one-day adventure. 🗺️ Plan your route: Group sights by area so you’re not doubling back, everything is walkable with a little planning. 🥾 Pack light and comfy: Wear good shoes 🍀 Book key tickets ahead: The Guinness Storehouse and Book of Kells can get busy, especially on weekends. 💚 Embrace the pace: Don’t try to see everything, enjoy the atmosphere, the people, and the energy of the city.

It’s amazing how much you can fit into one day when you plan it right. Dublin proved that sometimes all you need is a sunrise flight, a sense of adventure, and a good pair of shoes!
