Dubai is an ideal holiday destination for families, with theme parks, beaches, desert adventures and incredible food to keep both big and little kids satisfied. With so much choice on offer, it can be difficult to determine exactly what to put on your itinerary. We’ve narrowed down our favourite family-friendly attractions in Dubai so that you can make the most of your time there.
Discover the world of Bollywood and dance to some of the Indian film industry’s most famous tunes at the world’s first Bollywood-themed amusement park. Located in Dubai Parks and Resorts, which is home to other fantastic entertainment centres such as Legoland Water Park and Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks will give you and your family a fun-filled day of live music performances and exhilarating rides such as topsy-turvy 3D ride, Krrish: Hero’s Flight and the Dabangg stunt show.
“Dubai is one of mine and my family’s favourite destinations – the weather is great regardless of when you go and there is plenty going on to please adults and children. We love Dubai Parks and Resorts because in the morning you can go to Legoland Water Park, and then in the afternoon and evening spend it at Bollywood Parks, which tends to open a few hours later. Bollywood Parks is great for little ones, as they can immerse themselves in an entirely new culture, all whilst enjoying the amazing rides that the park has.”

Take a walk through a tropical rainforest right in the middle of Dubai with a trip to The Green Planet, located in the chic, open-air shopping district of City Walk. Be transported into a natural ecosystem filled with over 3,000 plants and animals, from brightly-coloured toucans and elusive geckos to butterflies and even a porcupine. This immersive vertical bio-dome is a treat for any budding environmentalist.
Since launching in 2017, this interactive children’s museum has been welcoming fun-loving youngsters through its doors to enjoy a wealth of activities and interactive experiences. Deriving its name from the Hawaiian word for joy, OliOli is made up of eight galleries for youngsters aged two to 11, with dozens of activities for them to engage in and learn from – including launching rockets and painting, to creating 3D artwork models and building forts.
If you’re looking for something a little different on the coast, Kite Beach should be your next destination. Kitesurfers regularly flock here to test their skills against the emerald waters of the Arabian Gulf, even busting out cool tricks and moves when the wind and waves pick up in the afternoon. There’s plenty of space to spread out and soak up the sun along the lively stretch of golden sand if you want some rest and relaxation too. Kids will love the vast array of food available from the famous food truck, Salt, so whether they want to grab a slider or a lotus milkshake on their beach day, then they’re covered.
Indulge in a shopping spree with a side of skiing at Malls of the Emirates’ Ski Dubai. Whether you want to brave the slopes on skis, a snowboard or a toboggan, you’ll be able to enjoy your trip regardless of skill level. Your children can also roll down white and powdery hills, play in the snow play area or sip on creamy hot chocolate all year round.
Amid the arid Dubai desert is a sprawling garden filled with greenery and flowers – a real-life oasis in the otherwise harsh desert environment. Sitting just a few minutes’ drive from the city centre, Dubai Miracle Garden features more than 45 million blooming flowers and is aiming to become the world’s biggest flower garden.
Leave the metropolis behind and head to the desert - a spot which is sure to leave you with unforgettable memories. Spot regional wildlife such as the Arabian oryx and gazelles on a desert safari, and carve your way down giant dunes on a sandboard. There is also an option for a night safari including stargazing, where the night’s sky comes alive with millions of stars.
Thrill-seeking youngsters will also love the sensation of travelling across the Arabian desert on a dune buggy or quad bike. Roll cages, bucket seats and a safety harness ensure that everyone will be able to enjoy the desert in the open air as you tackle the dunes and their breathtaking slopes.
