As well as the flying trapeze, the resort includes archery and padel tennis (which was created in Marbella) among its complimentary activities. There are also golf and tennis schools with both free and paid-for sessions and courses.

And for those who love getting out and about, the resort is the perfect springboard for exploring Andalusia, including Ronda, most famous for the 18th-century arched bridge crossing the spectacular 130m-deep gorge that splits it in two. Then there’s Estepona with its palm-lined promenade, water sports, fishing port, cove and whitewashed old town to amble around.

Or head into the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, where amidst a landscape of caves and mountains where you can try out all sorts of activities including canyoning, canoeing, and hiking.

Delectable Food and Drink

Daily delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in your package, and there’s an open bar. Upmarket Suenos restaurant is a place for Mediterranean cuisine prepared in front of you in an open kitchen; it also has a baby corner with special meals for tiny tots.

Then there’s the Tierra Gourmet Lounge, a lively bar, wine cellar and gourmet snack bar all rolled into one, serving the likes of late breakfasts, jamon iberico and tapas all through the day, and also offering wine- and olive-oil tasting workshops and live music.

Family Time

Designed very much with families in mind, Club Med Magna Marbella is a place to do as much or as little as you please. There’s a beach-club-themed lagoon pool and a water park ideal for family fun and water games, and other family activities in the form of ‘Big Snacks’, which can include pancake parties, baking workshops and picnics. But there’s also excellent childcare in the form of the Baby Club Med (extra charge), Petit Club Med, Mini Club Med and Club Med Passworld for ages ranging from 0 to 17 years.

This means that parents can take some much-earned time out – sneaking off to the sleek Cinq Mondes spa with its sauna, hammam and tailored treatments, perhaps, or relaxing at the adult-only Zen Zone pool and juice bar.

Naturally, the bright and airy accommodation is designed with families in mind, with an eye for the space and flexibility that is needed when travelling with kids. Expect interconnecting rooms sleeping up to five, all with balconies with sea, mountain and/or city views and contemporary decor enlivened by pretty Arab-Andalusian patterns.

If you come with little kids, the complimentary Club Med Baby Welcome Kit for ages 0-23 months – a baby bath, a bottle-warmer, a changing table, a travel cot and a stroller – can be booked to await you in your room on arrival. There’s also a baby-feeding and equipment room with a microwave, fridge and all the paraphernalia you could possibly require during your stay.
