Our favourite summer adventures in Whistler

24 January 2019

Whistler is the epitome of a year-round destination, even though it is renowned for its famous Whistler ski resort. Despite the perfect winter snow conditions between late November and mid-May, the adventures continue throughout the summer months as Whistler offers a checklist of iconic experiences, events and activities. We’ve selected some of our favourite summertime experiences in Whistler that we hope you’ll love.

PEAK 2 PEAK 360 Experience

Feel the thrill of riding on Whistler’s one-of-a-kind gondola which links the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. The world’s longest continuous lift system is suspended a mile above the glacial Fitzsimmons Creek, and you won’t miss any of the action below if you ride on one of the glass-bottomed gondolas. The PEAK 2 PEAK 360 Experience is the perfect complement to a day of hiking Whistler’s beautiful trails and taking in breathtaking views. Free guided hiking tours are available.

“Whistler village is clean, modern and nicely-designed with plenty of hotels, shops and restaurants. We stayed at Delta Whistler Suites in the heart of the village, so everything you could possibly want was right on the doorstep. One of my favourite things to do in Whistler was riding the PEAK 2 PEAK cable car, which connects the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. The views are spectacular, and it is a must for anyone visiting the area.”

Luxury 4x4 tour

Take on a Canadian tradition and explore the wilderness of Whistler on an exhilarating 4x4 tour. Rip around bumpy roads, through streams and down rocky trails in the comfort of a Porsche Cayenne S, with its air-conditioned seats, built-in Bose sound and off-road upgrades to make the experience as immersive, luxurious and exciting as possible.

Bear spotting

Whistler is inhabited by approximately 60 magnificent black bears that have adapted to feeding, mating and hibernating within ski area habitats. They can often be seen from chairlifts and gondolas, or whilst playing a round of golf.

TC tip: If you want to guarantee a sighting of Whistler’s famous furry animals, then you’ll need to book a viewing tour. Jump in a 4x4 vehicle with your guide and travel through ski area habitats to the bears’ favourite feeding sites and hibernation spots, and you’re sure to see them in their natural habitat.

Whistler Cloudraker Skybridge

One of the region’s newest attractions, Whistler Cloudraker Skybridge is a great place to take in the most breathtaking views in town. Whether you’re an alpine hiking regular or you’re a Whistler first-timer, you’re going to want to add a trip to the suspension bridge to your itinerary.

TC tip: If you enjoy the suspension bridge, you’ll love the Whistler Sky Walk Tour, which involves a hike up to, and along the edge of, Whistler Mountain. Clip into a cable to safely cross small suspended bridges and cliff-edge features, and discover incredible alpine views.
