Had a lovely weekend in Oxford at the end of March. The weather was beautiful, Springtime is one of my favourite times of the year to take short UK city breaks just before the main tourist season starts.
We stayed at the Oxford South Courtyard by Marriot in a deluxe room with King Size bed. It only took us about 15 minutes to drive to the centre of Oxford, parking was £15 for 5 hours right in the centre of the city. Right next to the hotel was a Beefeater Restaurant and a Costa Drive Through which was great for breakfast and the night we didn't eat in Oxford.
There really is so much to do in Oxford, we spent most of our time walking in the sunshine, down by the canal and exploring the stunning architecture. You can do this with a guide but we are fairly independent and prefer to take things at our own pace. That way we could enjoy the outside seating at many pubs, including the rooftop terrace at the Westgate Shopping Centre.
The highlight of our trip was the Bodleian Library, we took a tour which took us into the heart of the library, if only I could share the smell and nostalgia...
