VENICE FROM BEHIND THE LENS

Jill Chamberlain on 08 June 2015
A friend of mine has recently visited Venice, he is a keen photographer and the shots he got whilst there are truly amazing. I am in love with Italy and have visited several times but have never made it to Venice. Phil's photo's have truly inspired me to find out more about this beautiful city.

Venice is a labyrinth of stunning architecture, mysterious passageways and of course, it's famous canals. Being only a short flight from the UK, it is the ideal location for a weekend break. You can chill out in Piazza San Marco, take a romantic gondola ride or just meander through the historic streets.

The best time to visit this fantastic city is spring and autumn, when the temperatures are most agreeable for sightseeing. Must do activities are a visit to the Doge's Palace, St Mark Square and the Venetian Lagoon. For those with a keen interest in renaissance art, like myself, then no visit would be complete with a trip to the Gallerie dell'Accademia.

Then of course, there is the famous Italian food, make sure you sample an espresso at Café Florian, the oldest café in Venice, opening in 1720.

Easy Jet have flights from Gatwick and Manchester and British Airways from Heathrow.

Thanks to Phil Taylor for allowing me to use his photos to showcase this beautiful city.
