Uniworld, a boutique river cruise line with a focus on a luxury experience really made special by the crew onboard.

With just 120 passengers onboard and a very social atmosphere, my few days sailing from Avignon to Arles and Viviers in France gave me an amazing opportunity to experience the ship, luxury hospitality, and included walking tours with a fun crowd of people.

Staying in a category two cabin with French balcony, the bed was extremely comfortable and the L'Occitane toiletries added to the experience. The cabin was spacious, comfortable and with plenty of storage space. Little touches like a stash of chocolate, fresh water daily and a robe and slippers made me feel at home.

There is one restaurant onboard which is buffet style for breakfast and lunch with an a la carte selection. At breakfast should you want something like eggs benedict they're cooked fresh. There is a chef station for omelettes and the chef’s dish of the day which is a nice touch. In the evening, the restaurant is a la carte with the sommelier introducing the wine chosen specially to go with the evening menu.

The food was plentiful and an extremely high standard with plenty of choice. Room service is also available should you fancy a night in a or a midnight snack!

There are two bars onboard, one more of a lounge style and this is where there are talks during the day and entertainment in the evening. The other is a smaller venue with the pool attached and quieter if you are looking for somewhere with a more intimate feel. As this is an all-inclusive cruise line, you can have what you like, and they offer a large range of top shelf spirits and champagne, and the bars stay open until the last guest goes to bed.

Spa treatments are available if you would like them and there is a sun deck for relaxing on when the weather permits.

The included walking tours in the morning were excellent with passionate local guides and gentle options available for those with mobility issues. You have a headset through which the guides share their knowledge which is an excellent way of not missing a thing. Optional tours are available for the afternoons for a supplement and included things like cookery classes a day wine tasting.

Uniworld is a very special product with something for everyone. This also included U by Uniworld which is aimed at guests aged between 25 and 45yrs. The crew are what really makes your experience and makes them stand out from the crowd.
