New York Easter Break

Another visit to this amazing city - it's one of my favourite cities ever!

We travelled here in the spring to watch my stepdaughter perform on Broadway! What a fantastic achievement! She is a principal with Scottish ballet and they toured the USA and my husband and I were privileged to see her perform at the Joyce Theatre on Broadway.

We also decided that we would take two of our friends with us and this made it even more special - we did the Empire State Building again but this time at sunset. The views from here are magnificent and in the fading light with the lights of New York popping on the atmosphere was something special. New York is always fast paced and being Easter was very busy but I still found that it was easy to get around and not many queues for the attractions. Central Park was glorious in the Easter sunshine and we opted to do a pedi-cab tour. A great way to get around with a guide but being able to stop and get out and take pictures when we wanted. Next time we might try to hire a bike!

We opted to do the Staten Island Ferry this time around and it was fun to see New York from the other side of the island - easy to do and of course free. It's used by many New Yorkers every day.

This time as well we opted to do a boat trip up the Hudson taking in all the sights along the way - the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan’s brilliant skyline One World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower, the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge and many more.

Due to the time difference we couldn't sleep so at 5am went to Times Square - had an amazing coffee and doughnut from a street vendor and could see the lights without the crowds! Fantastic.

Also had a great lunch in O'Haras bar close to the World Trade Centre Memorial - great service and friendly staff. Got lost on the Subway which was fun but soon found our way back to the hotel!

All in all another great visit to New York - but there is so much that you can do that you can go again and again and again...
