St Ives

Beautiful, rugged, dramatic and relaxing! All words I would use to describe St Ives on our most recent trip there to see the family. There is no doubt that the sea air certainly makes the children sleep well, it has the same effect on the grown-ups too!

I just love to stand on the beach, drinking in the fresh air, tasting the salt on my tongue and listening to the children playing in the sand. And I mean, IN the sand! Something comes over them when we finally plonk ourselves on the lovely soft sand, they roll around in it, they splash in the (freezing cold) Atlantic water and they chase the seagulls! Of course, they never get close!

St Ives and the surrounding West Cornwall coast is beautiful, with its many small coves, some easy to reach, others need a bit more effort. You can take your own picnic, just beware of the swooping gulls, they will have your food if they see it!

In St Ives, you can enjoy the beach all day, in and out of the sea, fishing in the rock-pools, climbing over the rocks, and building sand castles. Then you can retire to the town for an ice-cream or a cream tea, or even a nice cold rattler (that's cider, yum)! Then back down to the harbor later to have your fish and chips by the sea. It's just perfect.

I'm already looking forward to my next trip in a couple of weeks!
