Ibiza was a fantastic place to visit in April, especially with a wee lad who doesn’t like it to be too hot. I had never thought of going to the island but when faced with a very short window of opportunity for my husband to take holidays, I looked at where we could go direct from Scotland on those dates and based solely on the fantastic flight times RyanAir had on offer, it was off to Ibiza we went! RyanAir…love it or hate it, it is what it is and if I am honest, I really didn’t have that bad a...

In search of some summer sun, my best friend and I decided it was time we had a wee break away. My little boy, James, had just turned one and was ready for some adventure! We found a great last-minute deal to Salou in Spain at the H10 Village hotel on a half board basis. We had a fab time! Traveling with a small child can be daunting but overall, we found the experience very smooth. We travelled with Thomas Cook Airlines, and with the young one in tow we negotiated the airlines’ baby luggage rules and the airport securities policies. To...

I visited Brussels some years ago for a tennis tournament and never really got the opportunity to explore. After talking to a client about the city and how easily accessible it was from the London area I realised it was the perfect fit for our own trip we were planning in September. Our journey began touring round the UK visiting people and going to a fantastic wedding in Southampton before finally ditching the hired car and boarding the Euro star bound for one of Europe’s youngest counties. After arriving at Gare du Midi, we took the metro in to the city...

I have never been on a cruise before so when given the opportunity to get up close and personal with one of P&O's newest vessels I jumped at the chance. The whole story began 3 months before when P&O kindly invited 800 Travel Counsellors, along with other agents from across the UK, to a night of glitz and glamour aboard their brand new 18-storey cruise liner. At the time we booked up we did not know that the day we would be going The Queen would also be visiting and naming the ship, that was just an extra bonus for us! So...

When the time of year comes, when the nights turn dark and the summer seems far away, a few days adventure in a different city is always a fantastic way to keep me smiling. This year was also a special one as my parents celebrated their 60th birthdays. So it was decided that the whole family (we are nine all together) headed off to Krakow in Poland for a few nights. We had picked Krakow for several reasons, but mainly, it had good direct flights from Scotland and unbelievably not one of us had been there before! Our journey started in the...

Choosing the right honeymoon can be a nightmare! We hummed and hawed for ages flipping from St Lucia, to Barbados, to Mauritius, before finally deciding on Thailand! It all depends on what you are looking for in a honeymoon. For us, we were in search of adventure as well as relaxation and Thailand fitted the bill perfectly! We flew Emirates from Glasgow via Dubai to Bangkok and then took an internal flight up to Chiang Mai. The city has two parts to it, in its centre is the old city which is a 1km square area defined by the ruins of the...

I never had any desire to go to South Africa, however when we were invited to go to a wedding there in 2013 I was very excited! We flew from Edinburgh to Durban via Amsterdam and Johannesburg - a long way but very good flight times and connections with Air France. We were on the new airbus 380 on the upper deck, which I have to say was the best economy I have ever been in. There was so much space, with extra compartments around you to put your bags rather than in the overhead locker. A fantastic flight. After arriving in...

My recent adventures have taken me to the small Island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides. The island measures about eight miles from north to south and about six miles from east to west. There is one ring road that goes round the island and it also is connect by a causeway to the island of Vatersay. This idyllic place truly was a Scottish paradise. The sandy rolling beaches were endless and untouched. If there was one down side to the holiday it would be that we didn’t go for long enough! For active people you could easily spend a week...

Auckland might be over 11 thousand miles away but it is well worth the visit! I was lucky enough to visit the city on three consecutive years from 2005 through to 2007 and in fact spent New Year’s Eve there on all of the occasions. The city is self is very vibrant, with lots going on. The population keep it young and there are many back packers and visitors on their adventures who stop there as a port of call on their trip. In January I remember the weather being warm but not unbearable. The city itself has a host...

This was my first trip to Sri Lanka but I hope it will not be my last. This lush green island is a hidden gem in the middle of the Indian Ocean. I spent ten days in this untouched paradise back packing with two of my good friends. With our bags strapped to our backs we explored the little country by bus, train and Tuktuk! The train rides were particularly stunning as we winded our way through the mountains lined with tea plantations. Since the tsunami in 2006 the country has rebuilt itself well. The people were very friendly and...

I’ve always been a great lover of all things Greek! In my travels I have been lucky enough to have visited Greece on many occasions for both work and play and I would go back in a heartbeat. The people are so friendly and the food is fresh, healthy and delicious. Let’s not forget their crystal blue seas offer visitors an excellent view of ocean life. Athens itself is rich with history and being in the presence of the palace of Zeus and the acropolis can have a profound effect on you. Around the central area of the old town, the...

Listened to exactly what kind of holiday we were looking for and provided exactly that. The travel plan was made simple and everything was clearly explained and dealt with efficiently. All our questions were answered and recommendations given on the areas we are visiting. And all done with a smile :) Will definitely be using Lucy again!
