Mauritius 2013

I was lucky enough to win a trip to Mauritius at a trade event so off again to this the beautiful island… . We flew overnight direct with Air Mauritius which took 12hrs 45 minutes. Our first hotel was the Movenpick Resort and Spa which is on the South coast.

The location of this resort was great. The sea was crystal clear but a little rocky in places and there was a lovely long stretch of beach to wander along. Our room was a beachfront junior suite with fabulous views of the sea and was overall very spacious. We were on an all-inclusive basis. Breakfast and dinner were in the buffet restaurant and you could have your lunch at the poolside restaurant. There was a great choice of drinks available under the all-inclusive programme.

After four nights at the Movenpick it was onto our next hotel, the Sugar Beach on the West Coast in the Flic en Flac area. It is very much a colonial style hotel set on an idyllic beach with crystal clear calm waters. Again we were all-inclusive basis which I would recommend as food and drinks can be quite pricey in Mauritius. This hotel is in a great location, next to its sister resort La Pirogue so you can eat and drink at both properties. The restaurants in both were fabulous as there is a great choice of food and the presentation as well as the service was always second to none.

I really loved this hotel and would have no hesitations in recommending it to families or couples alike. The facilities were excellent, Tennis courts, state of the art Gym, beautiful spa and more. I was only sorry we were only there for three nights.

The Residence on the East coast for 7 nights was our next stop. Again this property is in fabulous location on a stunning beach and within walking distance of Belle Mare where there were plenty of local shops to choose from to pick up provisions or local arts and crafts to take home.

The rooms at the Residence have everything you could possibly need during your stay. You also get your own private butler who will assist you with everything - even unpacking and packing while running a bath complete with rose petals!

The service at the hotel was of a very high standard, nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The food was A La Carte and was amazing. One thing I particularly liked was that you could have breakfast delivered to your room for no extra charge and they set it up beautifully on your balcony or in your room.

The beach was simply stunning. The water sports, even water-skiing was included at no extra charge. At the hotel the beach attendants set your beds up daily and brought you cold water as well as ice when needed to keep cool. The service was fabulous.

While we were there we went on a trip Ile Aux Certs by Catamaran. It is an island near the east coast of Mauritius. I would thoroughly recommend this trip as the island is a must see with breath-taking beaches and fantastic activities available.

I have now seen a lot of Mauritius and have visited most of the coasts. I would highly recommend it as a holiday destination for couples, families, perfect place for weddings and honeymoons.
