New Year in New York

I would struggle to suggest a more magical place at Christmas than New York. We spent 4 days between Christmas and New Year and loved every second of it!

The view of Manhattan as you approach it in a yellow cab from JFK airport never fails to take my breath away. The skyline is truly amazing - no matter how many times I see it. We stayed at the City Club Hotel just off Times Square which is a lovely boutique hotel just above Daniel Bouluds DB Bistro Moderne's restaurant. In line with most Manhattan hotels, the room was small, but it was very stylish. Less than a 5 minute stroll to Times square, this really was a perfect location for a whistle-stop trip.

I loved the Christmas trees and ice rink at the Rockefeller Centre as we strolled up to see the Rockettes Christmas Show at Radio City - which was out of this world.

Soaking up the atmosphere in Times Square on New Years eve is something I will never forget! We went downtown to Ground Zero and strolled around Wall Street and even found time for a trip to Century 21 and a wander down Water Street. Whilst there we took the chance to view Manhattan from above on the helicopter tour which gives the city a whole new perspective! Having been to New York many times, this time was my first visit to Grand Central Station which I have fallen in love with! What a place to just stand and watch the world go by......

New York is a place you can't help but stumble on places familiar from hundreds of films...the Home Alone Hotel, FAO Schwarz, Time Square, Macys, Central Park and many settings from Sex in the City, Gossip Girl and more.

We managed to squeeze in a trip around Central Park in a horse-drawn carriage as well as the obligatory trip to Tiffanys!

Each time I visit New York, I discover something new and it's a city I will never tire of!
