Hello, I am Sarah and I am a Travel Counsellor based in the beautiful village of Dedham, in the heart of Constable Country on the Essex/Suffolk border.
I have a 13-year-old daughter who shares my passion for travel and has already visited some of the best places in the world including Sydney, New York and Rome.
I have worked in the travel industry for more than 25 years, a career spanning hotel marketing, contracting for a retail travel agency and running a specialist tour operator. My experience has shown me that customer service is at the heart of everything and I take great satisfaction from being able to arrange a holiday that is absolutely perfect, and in so doing, creating memories that are treasured for ever.
I have travelled extensively in a work capacity and also for fun; from backpacking round Thailand, to travelling in style on the Venice Simplon Orient Express to Venice! There is nothing quite like arriving at Venezia Santa Lucia station and stepping straight in to a water taxi on the Grand Canal. I particularly love Italy for its amazing history, art and architecture; and not forgetting its food and friendly people. My work has taken me round the world several times so I have experienced many cultures at first hand which is a real privilege and inspiration.
I know that researching and planning your holiday takes time, and can be confusing with the plethora of information now available on the Internet. Talking to an expert makes it simple and a much more enjoyable experience. I can take out all the hard work, help you with ideas and suggestions, and tailor make a holiday that is perfect for you.
As I work from home, I am available at any time before, during and after your holiday to ensure everything goes to plan, so all you have to do is pack and go! I am looking forward to hearing about your next travel plans.

We have used Sarah Yandell for two holidays now, having given her just general information about what we would like for a holiday, both times she has come up with excellent results and we have had exceptional holidays. We will be using her in the future to take the stress out of finding a holiday and have recommended to our friends.

Sarah has been extremely helpful and knowledgeable regarding our recently booked trip to Florence in April. We have been so impressed that we are currently looking into booking a holiday later in the year. Nothing is too much trouble and Sarah completely met our original brief.

Just felt like I needed to say such a big thank you to you Sarah for all your help with the planning of our trip to New Zealand. I have always happily planned our previous holidays but as this was a much bigger project (including stop offs in Singapore and Australia) I felt I needed the experience and reassurance of back up from a professional and that is certainly what you provided. We were lucky that all went smoothly but having the knowledge that you were on the end of a phone/email took the pressure off. I know a lot of work went into ensuring we had an amazing time, so once again thank you. PS. Having a driver ready and waiting when we landed at each airport was a godsend!

We have recently returned from an amazing trip to Costa Rica which we had left rather late to organise. With Sarah's help and advice we were able to get our holiday planned and booked quickly without spending hours trawling the Internet. Sarah delivered a very detailed itinerary and checked us in the day before our outward and return flights and was in touch during our trip. It was reassuring to know that we could contact her at anytime if needed and that together with other personal touches, such as wine waiting for us at our hotel, helped enhance our holiday experience. For a very efficient and personal service we would highly recommend Sarah.

Just returned from our family holiday to the USA over Christmas and New Year. Staying in New York for a few days before travelling to India to see family. We've not been to NY before and felt overwhelmed with flight/hotel and trip options available then, thank goodness, Sarah stepped in! Over a relaxed cup of tea she carefully listened to all our preferences then promptly emailed some options for flights and hotels that met our needs and suggested some sight seeing trips too. Sarah booked the flights, transfers, hotel and sight seeing trips for us. Then a couple of days before travelling she popped by with all our travel tickets and guide for NY. Checked us in on all our flights, arranged for the hotel to print our boarding passes for our onward journey to Indi and even had a birthday cake delivered to our room for my birthday. We are thrilled with Sarah's service, everything was perfect, we had the most amazing time! Not that we had reason to but knowing we had a point of contact if we had any problems was reassuring. In the past we have booked our holidays through travel agent shops, online and direct with hotels/airlines but nothing comes close for value, service and choice. For a personal, professional travelling service why would you book your holidays any other way? We wouldn't - we've booked our next holiday to renew our wedding vows and Sarah has our ceremony booked with the hotel already!

We just had to write to thank you for organising our 'golden triangle' India trip - we were so well looked after from the moment we walked out of Delhi airport to the moment we got back there - the hotels were lovely and everything worked like clockwork. All the tours you had organised were fascinating with excellent guides. I do have to mention our driver, Pradeep, who was with us all week as he was always on time and ensured our comfort at all times and provided us with lots of photo stops along the way. We really enjoyed the trip and I know the excellent organisation played a huge part in that so thank you again.

We wanted somewhere special for our honeymoon but with little time to research we decided to ask Travel Counsellors. Sarah provided a fantastic service, after an initial consultation over the phone Sarah was able to identify our needs and create a beautiful and bespoke experience in Sicily. She took away all the stress of the exhaustive research and price comparisons and her extensive travel experience meant she was able to give us honest advice and first hand knowledge. I wouldn't hesitate to use her again.

Our trip to Venice was amazing from start to finish. Sarah worked closely with my partner to provide a truly magical experience, being treated like a princess, taken via private motor-boat straight up to the palace entrance! I felt truly spoilt. Then to top it off we walked into a bottle of champagne in the room from Sarah, which was then consumed on the rooftop terrace over-looking the Grand Canal. Sarah took my partner's idea and turned it into a holiday to remember - thank you so much, it will never be forgotten! We now look forward to sorting the next trip with you!

Sarah’s approach to creating our perfect holiday experience was professional and as advertised “personal” from coming to visit us in our home, to gain an understanding of what we were trying to create (a hard task as we both had different ideas of our perfect holiday). She gave us great tips and advice. Even giving us a map of directions from the airport to the hotel which was very useful and not something we would have thought of at the time. It was nice to receive the welcome from Sarah in our hotel room on arrival and the surprise welcome home when we were back. It was also reassuring she was at hand to help if any difficulties arose – which thankfully they didn’t. We had a wonderful time in Sicily. Many thanks Sarah for a great service from start to finish .

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic, relaxing beach holiday in Mallorca, organised by Sarah. Hotel was superb, staff brilliant and food excellent. Flights and transfers perfect. Only downside was the £ to €! However even Sarah couldn't do anything about that! I would have no hesitation in using Sarah again for travel arrangements, and would be very happy to recommend her travel services to friends and family. Many thanks Sarah

The resort Sarah our Travel Counsellor found for us has been nothing short of perfect. It has ticked so many boxes for us in terms of facilities, staff hospitality, hotel food and much more. The service Sarah provided for us from delivering our documents to ensuring we were booked in online and had a meet and greet at the airport not to mention the fact she was always available if we had any issues has made this holiday stress free and all the more enjoyable. We will be using you again!

Just wanted to thank you for everything you organised for us both. We had a fantastic honeymoon. The hotel was beautiful and we cannot fault the hotel and service they provided for us. I would highly recommend the hotel as it lived up to our high expectation! We also wanted to thank you for organising the transfer between the hotel and airport. The food and drink at the hotel was excellent and our room was beautiful. We had a lovely welcome when we arrived at the hotel, starting with a smooth check in, we are lunch as we arrived at 2pm and then we were taken to our room. We had a fruit basket with champagne and petals over the bed and leading to our patio and swimming pool.

Thank you very much for your help with sorting out my holiday crisis, and also for the wine and fruit on my birthday which was a lovely surprise when we got back to the room after our day out. I am so glad we had the private transfer from the airport, the guy was there with my name on a board! It was wonderful to be led to his very smart mini bus and be driven straight to the hotel, rather than faffing about with the train then a taxi.

We've just returned from Puglia, Italy having enjoyed a wonderful holiday selected and organised by Sarah Yandell: our Travel Counseller. As first time users of this service, we are complete converts. Sarah took careful account of our requirements and found us a delightful hotel - Torre Bianche - which was full of character in a beautiful location with excellent food. Sarah's attention to detail was impeccable she even checked in online on our behalf. Sarah provides a brilliant service for a carefree holiday.

Not knowing quite what to expect, our driver picked us up from our Riad in Marrakesh and drove out of the city towards the mountains. The Scarabeo Camp if just over half an hour from the city and is nothing like anything I have experienced before. On leaving the main road, we were taken across the rocky desert of Agafay and soon the tents of the campsite came into view set in barren but beautiful surroundings with the Atlas Mountains in the distance. We were greeted on arrival and offered mint tea and delicious traditional cakes, in the central area of...

Marrakesh is the perfect destination for a short holiday in November when the weather is perfect – blue skies, warm sunshine but not too hot. • Flying time is less than four hours • Short transfer time from the airport (15-20 minutes) • There is no time difference • Offers a different cultural experience and is friendly and welcoming • Good value – a two cours meal costs about MAD120 per person (£10) • Beautiful and vibrant with Middle Eastern, African and French influences Having arrived, and spent a long time at passport control (one of the few downsides) we were met by our driver and taken to Ksar Anika Riad...

Being a complete novice on cruising, something that a growing number of people now enjoy, I decided it was time to find out what all the excitement was about. My first tiptoe into the world of cruising was to join the P&O Azura on a mini cruise traveling from Southampton to St Peters Port in Guernsey. After parking the car in a dedicated area conveniently located next to the ship, we went into the lounge area to join a large crowd of passengers who were waiting to board. The ship was full which means a total of 3,100...

I was recently invited, together with my daughter, to a family day ship visit by Princess Cruises which was docked at Southampton. This was a great opportunity to visit, and find out more about what this ship has to offer. The Caribbean Princess is one of 17 ships in the Princess fleet and was completely renovated in March. It can accommodate a total of 3,140 guests and has a crew of 1,200. Princess travels across Europe on many types of cruises. From fly-cruises from the Mediterranean, or sail straight from Southampton as well as cruises to all other parts of...

Having been invited by a friend to visit them in Dallas, I took the opportunity over half term to take my daughter for a trip to discover a little bit of Texan life. Dallas is probably best known as the place where John F Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, as well as the setting of the long running TV series, though there is a lot more to this city. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, which is the largest inland metropolitan area of the United States and is growing rapidly. We stayed in Frisco, a...

My daughter and I arrived at Tenerife South Airport after an early start from Stansted courtesy of Ryanair. I had booked the shared transfer to the hotel, though would strongly recommend the private transfer which is well worth the extra cost, as the Hard Rock Hotel is the last drop off after stopping at a number of hotels in Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje. The Hotel could be spotted from a distance with it’s two bright towers. On arrival we were given a welcome drink while we checked in. The entrance is very grand in keeping...

I first visited South Africa more than 10 years ago, and having been to South Africa Tourism “school” last week, I was reminded of what an amazing destination it is - it really has something for everyone. Full of natural beauty, good weather, adventure and wildlife, oh and not forgetting the food and wine. Eating out in South Africa is incredibly affordable, even now, with the average cost of a meal for two being around £40 and a bottle of wine is less than a pound! My visit started in Cape Town. Taking a cable car up Table Mountain is...

Having found a kindred spirit who wanted to enjoy an adventurous holiday with our two daughters, both 10 years old, we set off to Athens, home to the hilltop ruins of the Acropolis and Agora which would bring the Ancient Greeks that the girls have been studying at school to life. Our first stop off was at the Melia Hotel, very modern and comfortable and a little away from the main tourist sights, but taxis were cheap and plentiful, so this was not an issue. The hotel has a fabulous roof top pool, so our days in Athens were...

Our BA flight arrived into Rome Fiumicino airport after a slight delay, to be met by our prearranged transfer. It was well worth the extra cost in order to avoid the chaos of trying to find a taxi. Instead, we were greeted by our driver who led us to his extremely comfortable and spacious people carrier – perfect for a small group or family. The journey took around half an hour, and we were then at our hotel, the Sofitel Villa Borghese located very centrally within 10 minutes of the Spanish steps, the Via Veneto and the beautiful Borghese Gardens....

My journey started at Manningtree station by catching the first train to London Liverpool Street, and connecting to London St Pancras to take the Eurostar to Paris. After enjoying a leisurely breakfast and catching up with the Sunday papers onboard the train, we were soon arriving in Paris. The connection between Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon was a short (if hot) trip on the RER. It took a little while to orientate myself at Gare de Lyon, so I was glad that I had plenty of time before boarding my train to Barcelona. I...

We arrived at London Victoria Station amongst the commuter throng, in plenty of time to check in our bags at the Orient Express desk next to Platform 2. We were allocated Cygnus, one of eleven carriages, each with its own unique history. Cygnus entered service in 1951 as part of the new Golden Arrow, which was refurbished for the Festival of Britain. The brunch was delicious – lovely scrambled egg and very tasty smoked salmon served by Arthur, who looked after us for the whole journey to Folkestone. On arrival at Folkestone, we were transferred to a luxury coach, which...
