Sunshine and fun in St. Lucia

On one of the beautiful sun kissed islands of the Caribbean, you can do as little or as much as you like.

There is always time to do nothing, but relax on a gorgeous sandy beach and lose yourself in your favourite novel. On the other hand, you can stay at one of the more active resorts where I stayed – BodyHoliday, or leave the resort to explore, and in this case, the list of what you can do is endless.

The island is ideal for water sports enthusiasts and there are hot spots for those requiring the wind behind them, or calmer waters for those who prefer snorkelling and scuba diving. For a land based activity there is zip wiring through the rainforest – or just a cable car ride through it. There are countless walks including guided walks up the Pitons (the second highest mountains infamous in so many pictures you see of the island). There is a visit to the various hot mineral baths, Segway tours, sunset cruises, and there is even a drive in volcano too!

Temperature wise it is tropical, and very green so that is a clue! When it does rain it means business with its short heavy bursts but I found the sun never too far behind.

Accommodation tends to offer a range of bed and breakfast to all inclusive, but with many options on the resort unless you are staying close to the Capital – Castries.

Castries is buzzing with activity compared to the rest of the island, but still looks laid back in comparison to European cities. As with much of the Caribbean, there is a slower pace of life which means you can switch off quickly and begin to take things easy from the moment you arrive.

I was lucky enough to stay at three different resorts during my visit so in addition to BodyHoliday I also stayed at Rendezvous and Sugar Beach, and covered a lot of the island.

It’s a fabulous location and can even be twinned with other Caribbean islands should you wish.
