Hi, my name is Sharon, welcome to my page and thank you for visiting.
I am an independent travel consultant based in Chippenham, serving clients throughout the West Country and wider UK.
I was born in the beautiful city of Bath, grew up in rural Somerset and now live on the outskirts of Chippenham with my partner Derek, having moved here to be with him a few years ago. We love being based on the edge of the Cotswolds in glorious countryside with beautiful and iconic sightseeing right on our doorstep.
Whatever you are looking for in your perfect trip, I can bring the dream to life by building it around the things you value most. I have organised trips for solo travellers, couples, families and groups, and have worked extensively with business travellers, and have a background in meetings, conferences and events. I have experience in organising travel which combines culture, sports and sightseeing in stunning destinations, two-centre holidays combining locations such as the Caribbean and USA, city mini-breaks, family villa and beach/sun holidays, walking holidays in Europe, all-inclusive luxury island escapes, private adventure tours and more. Your perfect trip can be anything you want it to be, and I can build itineraries around your requirements.
I believe that the travel experiences you have and the memories you make from them should be positive, fulfilling and enrich your life and your well-being. If your travel does that, then it will become part of the person you are. In the words of Anita Desai, “wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow”, so to help others to have those experiences and to plan and map out their travel ambitions with them is so exciting. To be chosen to be your personal Travel Counsellor is such a privilege.
Whatever your holiday needs I'm here to help you, so simply give me a call or send me an email with your contact details on and I can get things started for you:-

When I was younger, I said I would never keep returning to one holiday destination. There are so many wonderful and exciting places to visit on this planet, and I couldn’t see why I would want to see a place more than once (I have of course since fallen in love with many destinations and would jump at the chance of exploring them further). I am also a country girl born and bred, and the countryside is my happy place, so for me to want to return to a city I thought would be an absolute no-no too. I was...

With travel starting again, I got to thinking about places we can visit right on our own doorsteps. In the West Country we are extremely lucky to have so many places of interest within easy reach. The South West of England spans a fantastically varied area and number of counties, and to cover them all in one go would be impossible, so I have for now picked a small area of close distance. I have included parts of the counties of Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire which are within easy driving of the cities of Bath and Bristol, both of which...

Hi there! How are you? I hope you are well, and enjoying the glorious weather. I have been enjoying the garden so much in this lovely sunshine, but oh, how I would much rather I was dipping my toes into a pool with a Daiquiri in my hand somewhere a little more exotic. I have been thinking about all of the lovely places we could visit when the rest of the world is ready again. Isn’t it wonderful that we can start to plan a staycation now though? I am very excited about being able to...

In December 2019 Derek and I travelled to Vienna for the Christmas Markets and to spend a few days of sightseeing in the beautiful Austrian capital. I had always wanted to see the Lipizzaner horses at the Spanish Riding School as well as going to the Christmas Markets, and the history and architecture had interested me too, especially after our trip to Salzburg a couple of years ago. The thought of glühwein, spaetzle, goulash soup, strudel, schnitzel and the famous coffee houses were also definitely part of the attraction, as was the music of the city and the chance to see...

I first visited Crete when I was 17. Newly engaged and going abroad for the first time, it was such a big adventure! I have very fond memories of that holiday, the anticipation of seeing a new country, trying to learn some of the language, wondering how we would cope with that as a young couple who had never been anywhere outside of the UK before, getting to experience the food and the culture, and meeting the people. I loved everything about Crete, and particularly Rethymno where our hotel was situated. My fiancé, whom I went on to marry three...

We usually have an idea of where we would like to travel for our major holidays far in advance, but we had struggled with a decision this time. We were really torn on where to go, and there were so many options, maybe Asia again or New Zealand; I really wanted to go to Peru, and we both liked the idea of Sri Lanka and maybe tag some relaxation on with a twin-centre somewhere in the Indian Ocean. We looked into all sorts of options, at private guided touring mostly, as that had worked so well for us before. We...

We had talked about going to Austria for a long time. Derek had been stationed in Germany for a number of years, and visited Austria when he could so he was keen to return and introduce me to its beauty. We decided to head to Austria’s "Lake District” in the Salzkammergut region. We stayed in St Gilgen, on the shores of Lake Wolfgangsee, near the Zwolferhorn. We were there during the late May/early June half-term holiday. We flew into Salzburg and picked up a hire car, so we could tour at our leisure. Leaving Salzburg behind and heading out to the...

The third part of our journey took us to Chitwan, and a Safari resort where we had our own lodges. The welcome was warm, and nothing was too much trouble. We settled in, had a late lunch and then were taken to a traditional dance show for our evening entertainment. Dinner and an early night followed, as we had a dugout canoe ride, a trip to the elephant centre and a jeep safari in store for the next day. A very exciting day it turned out to be. We left the resort after breakfast to stroll to the banks of the...

The morning sadly brought more mist, and the mountains stayed mostly hidden. However, we did have the opportunity to explore Pokhara a little, which was a more typical tourist destination with great little eateries, relaxed coffee shops, a beautiful lakeside and lots more besides, including free-roaming cows walking down the main street! We set off from the city after breakfast to the village of Ghachok, which was in much need of help rebuilding following the earthquake, especially its school, which the Gurkha contingent with us were already patrons of. The journey took us nearer to the Annapurna range which were at...

Our trip to Nepal was due to my partner Derek’s association with the Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR). Part of his army career he served as Officer Commanding of a Gurkha squadron, and the trip was for the Regiment’s 60th Anniversary to take us on welfare visits, as well as seeing the sights and how Nepal was recovering from the 2015 earthquake. Getting a glimpse of the Himalayas on the flight approach into Kathmandu is truly awe inspiring and was a taste of what the following two weeks would bring. Kathmandu reminded me of the cities in Cambodia and Vietnam...

Our tour of Nepal back in 2017, was as part of a small group tour. The group was made up of Army Veterans and their partners, and current serving Army personnel and their partners, all of whom have a connection with the Queens Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment, which was celebrating its 60th Anniversary when we travelled. My partner Derek served part of his army career as Officer Commanding of a Gurkha squadron, and the trip would take the group on anniversary visits to many welfare centres for Gurkha Veterans, as well as seeing the sights and to find out...

We flew from Siem Reap following our tour of Cambodia into Da Nang and travelled down the coast to Hoi An, where our hotel, the Palm Garden Resort, is set on its own private stretch of beach. We were upgraded on arrival, and given the most gorgeous private beach bungalow with the beach bar and a restaurant close by. With the beach stretching away to either side of us as far as you could see, and a pool and a spa, it was going to be exactly the rest and relaxation needed after tearing around sightseeing the previous four days,...

For many years I wanted to visit Cambodia, and Angkor Wat, the capital of the Khmer empire, was what piqued my interest in the country. Later when the Tomb Raider film showed the other temples in that area, it became number one on my list of iconic places to visit. We added Vietnam for our second week and the two destinations gave us a trip of a lifetime filled with fantastic memories. We travelled late August/early September. We flew into Phnom Penh at night, accompanied by impressive thunderstorms, which was quite the experience. We were met by Thea, our lovely guide...

Having had a busy start to our trip further south in Cambodia, we started the next day with a relaxed breakfast at the hotel followed by a drive out to see Spean Praptos bridge near Kampong Kdei. Spean Praptos Bridge is more than 1,000 years old and once was the longest corbeled stone-arch bridge in the world, with its more than twenty narrow arches. The bridge was built in the 12th century and is one of few remaining bridges to have survived from the Khmer Empire to the modern day. We then headed on to Kampong Kleang floating village where a...

I am an out-and-out, self-confessed foodie, and whenever we are travelling, I make a point of seeking out local, traditional food (often to the frustration of my darling other half). We always try to eat, if possible, where the locals eat, as then we know the food is good. During our trip to Cambodia we made the most of as much local cuisine as we could. We had everything from spit-roasted chicken with stir-fried young waterlily shoots and rice, in an outdoor kitchen in a co-operative settlement near Siem Reap, to the traditional, very thick, rich, sweet and chocolatey black...

I rang Sharon immediately Portugal was removed from the quarantine list and pleaded to her to get me out there! Once she gleaned what my requirements actually were Sharon got straight onto the case. Within just a few short minutes she had come back with a great 7 night break to Portimao, exactly what we were looking for. The flights, and hotel were just perfect, and she had the paperwork to me with plenty of time (along with a couple of masks and a bottle of hand sanitiser). The holiday was excellent, and I would not hesitate to ask Sharon for help in the future.

Once we had asked Sharon to help us find our holiday the hardest thing we had to do was make decisions! Sharon provided a range of opportunities that fitted our requirements and budget, which included a lot of the extras we just wouldn’t have found in budget, on our own. Sharon was available when convenient for us so we did not have to make a special trip to a travel agents and feel like we had to make a decision straight away. Sharon’s response time to messages is impressive and shows her commitment and care. We also have peace of mind that you have one person to contact for queries rather than waiting on the phone to call centres for each aspect of your holiday. We are grateful for Sharon’s hard work and attention to detail.
From the pristine white-sand beaches of Thailand’s idyllic islands to the sprawling wide-open roads of the USA; the historic and breathtakingly beautiful architecture of India to the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Maldives – there’s a world of wonder out there and it’s just waiting to be explored.
