TC Kids Day

There aren't many companies out there that put on training days and invite your whole family along! Travel Counsellors is one of them though! In the school summer holidays Club Med kindly sponsored a day of training, games and fun for me, my hubby and the kids along with lots of other TCs and their families.

We headed up to Norfolk (it was a long day) where we met the Club Med ladies. Games were put on for the kids along with face painting while I went into the training session. Afterwards we have a tasty buffet lunch and then we moved on to Go Ape in Thetford. I'm pretty lucky to have adventurous kids so all four of us headed into the trees for the junior Go Ape course. At 5yrs and 8yrs the kids did brilliantly as we made it round twice and had a brilliant afternoon swinging around like monkeys!

What can I tell you about Club Med Ski that I learnt that day?

They are an all-inclusive ski product - they even include lessons (if needed) and lift passes. They also include premium accommodation, gourmet cuisine (they can cater for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets) and branded drinks. The lift pass varies depending on the accommodation but generally includes a local lift pass with their 3 Trident properties and an area one with 4 and 5 Trident properties. Trident is their own rating scheme with 5 being the best. Lift passes are available for the day after arrival. As well as the skiing they often have other sports and activities available such as a gym, snowshoeing, sledging and maybe a swimming pool. Kids clubs are provided for much of the day and are included in the price for 4 to 17-year olds. They do provide a club for 4 months - 3 years old too but at additional cost and babysitting is also available on request for an extra charge. The kid’s clubs are pretty comprehensive and can provide activities, ski lessons if wanted, sledging, games or general snow fun. They can even stay for lunch and dinner!

The durations of their holidays are very flexible from 2-22 nights and their flight packages include transfers in-resort too (which can be tricky to arrange otherwise). Although ski hire is not included they do have ski rental available for an extra charge in the hotels.

If you are looking for a particularly family friendly resort then Club Med Grand Massif Samoens is one to look up - it's even good for infants! Whether you fly into Geneva (1 hour 15 minutes) or Grenoble (2 hours) the transfers are relatively short for ski transfers. They even have family rooms with a separate kid’s area including a TV for the kids! Another big plus is that it’s ski-in ski-out. I have fond memories of my skiing days as a child when mum and dad took us all. My dad always got lumbered with our skis plus his own and never seemed to grumble about carrying 5 sets of skis to the nearest ski lift! When I think back on it now, it definitely makes me want to do ski-in ski-out if we ever get around to taking our children skiing (it's on the list for next year though so who know!) All of the kids clubs and ski lessons will have English speaking staff too so a great option for us Brits!

If you'd like to consider a Club Med Ski holiday (or any ski holiday) please do get in touch, I'd love to help plan your trip whether it be for a family or just for adults, hope to hear from you soon, Vicky.
