La Herradura, Costa Tropical - Granada Province

As a family we LOVE La Herradura.

If you asked me why, I would tell you about the location of this beautiful bay on the Costa Tropical but with some hesitance. I don't want everyone knowing about it! We are fortunate enough to have family with a flat there and so many a school holiday has been spent happily relaxing in this fabulous hidden gem of a town.

However, there are several hotels and places to stay here and if the quiet town of La Herradura is not to your taste there are several beautiful seaside towns nearby with hotels and accommodation. I would recommend the nearby towns of Almuñécar, Motril, and Nerja. All wonderful and coastal with typical Andalusian cuisine that even my fussy 5 year old eats with glee!

There is also an abundant history in the area, there are prehistoric paintings in Nerja, Roman ruins and Moorish architecture - Almuñécar served as the entry point to Iberia - and much more. Most famous of all perhaps is the Alhambra, a palace and fortress complex located near Granada itself.

Now I've told you about this hidden gem, I expect you to keep it quiet. My kids would never forgive me if La Herradura ran out of ice cream!
