Delights of Tobago

Tobago is a haven for nature enthusiasts, a truly authentic Caribbean escape where the untamed beauty of this island is complimented by the warmth and hospitality from friendly locals.

I’d heard Tobago was home to the adorable hummingbird, but never thought I would be able to get as close as I did to these charming, tiny creatures that call this island home.

There are a couple of nature parks on the island that you can check out and, one I was lucky enough to visit, was Shurland James Hummingbird Nature Park. Here you're simply handed a tiny container that resembles a flower, filled with delicious nectar that the hummingbirds adore. The hummingbirds are so tiny and fascinating to watch. Their tiny wings beat so rapidly that it's mind-boggling to even fathom how many times they flutter those little wings. They hover effortlessly as they dart around with remarkable precision, relishing the delights of their meal.

Their presence brings a sense of magic to an island of paradise – don’t forget your camera!

On Tobago, there are several places and experiences on the island which are worth including during you stay:

Bioluminescence Tour - an unforgettable memory from my trip, was kayaking at night, seeing the magical, glowing plankton light up in the water during a spectacular bioluminescence tour. I even had an opportunity to experience this unique opportunity at close hand, as I took a dip in the water and saw the waters light up as I swam past the bioluminescence in the warm ocean. Enjoy the best seat in the house!

Pigeon Point – known for its calm, sparkling blue waters. This an ideal spot for a beach day

Nylon Pool – crystal clean waters, with a sandy bottom in the middle of the sea created by an offshore sandbar. Locals claim these turquoise waters carry rejuvenating properties to those who swim in the Nylon Pool.

Englishman’s Bay – a secluded beach on the leeward coast of Tobago. Largely untouched, the bay presents a crescent of golden sand, deep blue waters and offshore reefs.
