We joined the most wonderful ship, the Explora 1 in Reykjavik for a journey around Iceland and over to Denmark. We spent 7 days on a journey around Iceland then over to Skagen, Denmark finally ending in Copenhagen. The scenery was just beautiful. The ship is amazing, elegant, beautiful, peaceful and spacious. With only 461 suites and residences and a ratio of 1.25 members of staff to every passenger the service is second to none. The food was outstanding and of the highest standard. The journey was like a boutique 5 star hotel! Let's talk food options on Explora 1 With four al a carte restaurants inlcuded, room service and the Emporium all included you are spoilt for choice! Each restaurant has its own kitchen (including room service) and all are overseen by head of culinary, chef Franck Garanger. The food is outstanding all cooked to order. GRILL A redefined European steakhouse experience MED YACHT CLUB A relaxed celebration of the flavours, ambience and la dolce vita of the Mediterranean FIL ROUGE A global tasting tour of French-inspired international cuisine. Emporium Marketplace Effortless all-day dining, inspired by cuisines and flavours from across the globe. The emporium is similar to a food court but only in the sense there are plenty of different options and cooking stations, that's where the similarity stops. It is table service with waiters on hand for your every whim! We tried all options from breakfast in our suite, lunch in the sunshine on the emporium desk to al a carte dining in the evening at each of the stunning restaurants and were very spoilt! Entertainment is low key. there are plenty of bars/lounges to while away the hours each evening with something happening, including a pianist, jazz and there is the main lounge at night that has the resident band offering something different each evening, something for everyone. As your drinks are included you can sit back, relax whilst enjoying just watching for whales or listening to the quiet!! Really was a most wonderful journey….I definitely found my Ocean State of Mind and you can too!
