Dubai 2016

After our trip to Seychelles we went to Dubai for two nights, flying with Etihad airways in Economy Class to Abu Dhabi. The flying time is around four hours and we then took a coach to Dubai which took around 90 minutes. During the coach journey they provided water, refreshing towels and mints which I thought was a nice touch. The bus terminates at Etihad Bus Mall Station where there are good connections to downtown Dubai and other parts of Dubai by metro.

We stayed at the Intercontinental Dubai Marina hotel. This hotel opened in 2015. It’s a great hotel in a good location two minutes’ walk to a tram stop, five minutes’ walk to the marina where there are restaurants and 10 minutes’ walk to the beach where there are shops, restaurants and bars.

The breakfast is a buffet with a great view of the marina. We stayed in room 1811 which was a corner deluxe room. We had a great view of the marina plus in the distance a view of the Atlantis Palms hotel.

There are several different room types at this hotel. A studio has complimentary Wi-Fi with a kitchenette equipped with a microwave, cooking range, dishwasher and washing machine. A one-bedroom suite is ideal for families. You can relax in the chic living area equipped with a 46-inch TV and browse the internet using complimentary Wi-Fi. Home comforts include a kitchenette with cooking range, microwave and dishwasher. A two-bedroom suite has two bedrooms and bathrooms. Make a meal in the kitchenette and enjoy it in the plush living and dining area. Complimentary Wi-Fi and a flat screen TV in every room make it easy to stay connected and entertained.

Whilst in Dubai for less than 48 hours I managed to see the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building and Emirates Mall - the biggest shopping mall with ice skating and an aquarium plus Atlantis the Palm Hotel. Dubai has changed since we last visited 10 years ago with many improvements. We would certainly go back again. This destination has something for everyone. I think this two-centre holiday was a great way of getting best of two worlds and I would certainly do it again in the future.
