I flew London City-Rome via Milan flying time 3.10 hrs in economy class. There is now a direct service from London City to Rome. Check in time up to 30 minutes before departure at London City Airport. Great airport only takes 22 minutes to get to Bank on docklands light railway.

I arrive at Rome Fiumicino where are lots of airport shuttle bus service cost around 5.00 euros per person each way, plus an airport rail express service which takes 30 minutes cost around 14.00 euros per person each way, make sure you validate your train ticket before boarding train otherwise you can be fined.

I stayed at Demetra Hotel 4* near Rome Termini train station. The hotel is a good location not far from the main sights like Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and Colosseum. There are many shops and restaurants in this area. Whilst in Rome I visited all the main sights including the Vatican I would suggest getting fast pass tickets for these sights during busy period as the queues can be very long.

Rome is a city that you can walk but be prepare to have your walking shoes. You can also travel by metro or local buses very cheaply. When I visited Rome and Vatican the city was buzzing as it was pope Benedict first Easter mass. The crowds were massive. I would recommend visiting the Vatican for Easter mass.

Local food pizza and pasta they are several restaurants around in Rome. I would avoid tourist areas where you can eat cheaply. A must is Italian ice cream it’s the best ice cream I have ever tasted, There are so many flavours to choose from.

I would certainly visit this city again in the future it’s a great city with lots of history.
