Switzerland 2017 Part 2

Day 6 - We went to Schynige Platte – since 1893 the cogwheel train has been transporting nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts from Wilderswil near Interlaken to Schynige Platte, the starting point of beautiful hiking tours and mountain trails. Then we went to Bern the capital of Switzerland. Bern has six kilometres of arcades lining the streets of the old city with busy market stalls livening up the squares, and pubs and restaurants with plenty of character serving wholesome food under ancient arched ceilings, while small theatres in cellars below the arcades offer stimulating entertainment. You can swim in the river in the summer.

Day 7 - We left Wengen early as check out time so it was time to head back home via Zurich city where we can explore as we were flying back from there. We enjoyed the pretty old town, the trendy new Zurich-West district and the glorious lake. With opera, ballet, theater premieres, shows, musicals, art exhibitions in over 50 museums and 100 galleries, time never drags in Zurich. The famous Bahnhofstrasse and the Limmatquai are a shopper's paradise. Over 1,700 restaurants and bars serve both traditional Zurich and Swiss dishes as well as exotic specialties. The evenings will leave you spoilt for choice: indoors or outdoors, anything is possible as far as the nightlife in Zurich goes. I think Zurich would be great for Christmas market also a fascinating city break.

Switzerland is a great country which has something for everyone, it’s not cheap but offers good quality. We love this country and would definitely come back again in the future.

The time we visited Wengen we found lots of groups especially walking groups. Switzerland is a great destination for activities like walking, hiking, skiing etc but also good as a city break destination.

Having been in winter and now summer Switzerland, we would consider it as a year round destination as it has so much to offer in any season.
