Two centre holiday Mauritius and Dubai part 1

I was lucky to win 2 free nights at The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm during covid period. I have been checking flight prices since Covid and air fares have gone up! I found a way of getting value for money, by going on a two centre holiday with the benefit of going to two destinations in one trip. The other benefit is your holiday doesn’t quite feel finished after one destination. The cost of two centre holidays sometimes don’t cost that much more and I decided to take my wife Becky on this holiday in mid June when it should be quieter as no school holidays. I decided on Mauritius and Dubai as our holiday destinations. We flew with Emirates from Stansted in economy class. Staying 4 nights at Sunrise Attitude on all inclusive basis then 2 nights at The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm on bed and breakfast basis. Flying time to Mauritius was around 12 hours via Dubai. The flights were busy on our trip which surprised me, as it wasn’t school holiday period .Once we arrived in Mauritius airport. we were greeted by our transfer driver who took us to our hotel, the driving time to our hotel from the airport was around 90 minutes. We went through lovely scenery and beautiful fishing villages during our journey. When we arrived at our hotel we were given a cold towel and welcome drink. A bonus for us, our room was ready after arriving early in the morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay, we even met the general manager. We stayed in room number 3008 which has a private pool. It was lovely and spacious with a beautiful bathroom. I would highly recommend this room type if you have the budget to spend. Once when checked in at this hotel .you can have your meals straight away, no need to wait until check In time which at some hotels this can be around 2-3 pm and also there is no check out time at this hotel which means you can have meals up until you leave which is what we did on our trip. I think this is a unique selling point, as most hotels check in and check out times means your meal plan finishes. The Sunrise Attitude is a 4* hotel located on the east coast of Mauritius near Belle Mare, across the road from the beach and no Tv concept It has 8 private pool villas plus 28 swim up pool rooms and other room types available. It is great with its sustainable programme as no plastic is allowed. The hotel has the following restaurants. MAIN RESTAURANT The Market serves breakfast, lunch or dinner. It has Live cooking and offers Local & international cuisine. No reservation is required at meal times. Lunch was lovely as a la carte menu was served. A-LA-CARTE | PLATTERS The Social House. The place to go for healthy dishes, a great choice of vegan food and traditional buffet breakfasts. At dinnertime, The Social House transforms into a tapas restaurant with a relaxing lounge. You need to make reservation at dinner time. SIGNATURE RESTAURANT Kot Nou Is only available at dinner time. you can try classic Mauritian dishes that have been revisited with creativity and originality. Green papaya salad and chilli cakes, chicken skewers with tandoori spices and other local delicacies are served in the form of tapas. Eat indoors or outdoors, wherever you desire. You need to make reservation for this restaurant at Dinner time. LOCAL STREET FOOD Taba-J A true Mauritian institution, the Taba-J is a small shop where you can find everything! It is also an unmissable gourmet stop at 4* hotel Sunrise Attitude, a place where you can taste some of the best street food in Mauritius. Rotis, faratas, dholl puris – even Mauritian sweets and cakes from 3-6pm – come and sink your feet into the sand and embrace an authentic taste of the island. There are plenty of activities at this hotel including water and land sports. Plus other activities including this one I really wanted to do, but was leaving on the day - Have dinner with a local family! Get to know the real Mauritius nightlife by having dinner with a local family. A few of the Family Members – staff who work at Attitude Hotels – are ready to warmly welcome you into their home and cook you a delicious meal. It’s the perfect chance to learn about their traditions and share a special evening together. It will be fun and relaxed, too! You can help your Mauritius dinner guide prepare the meal (if you’d like to), perhaps frying up the chilli bites or kneading the dough to get the faratas ready. Each home offers a different experience and many of our guests say it is the highlight of their stay! The cost was around £40 per person. If I stay at this hotel again I would like to try this experience. The hotel has 3 bars plus 2 swimming pools and a spa. This hotel is great for couples and honeymooners, we had a lovely 4 night stay before heading off to Dubai.
