Last week I embarked on a short voyage aboard Norwegian Cruise Line's latest marvel, the Norwegian Aqua, which is an experience that redefines luxury cruising. Boasting cutting-edge attractions like the world's first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide at sea, the Aqua Slidecoaster, the Norwegian Aqua is set to debut in April 2025. This ship is a testament to innovative design, offering an array of features and amenities that cater to travellers of all ages and preferences. Unparalleled Onboard Attractions One of the standout features of the Norwegian Aqua is the Aqua Slidecoaster, the world's first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide at sea. This exhilarating ride propels guests through three stories of twists and turns, providing an adrenaline rush like no other. Thrill-seekers will also love the Drop Zone, a heart-pounding free-fall slide that delivers an electrifying experience. I personally did not try this out (due to my new hip??) but having watched fellow guests, and I know my teenage son will love this! For sports enthusiasts, the Glow Court offers a digital sports complex with an interactive LED floor, transforming into a vibrant nightclub in the evening. Families will appreciate the expanded Splash Academy for children and the dedicated Entourage teen club, ensuring that younger cruisers are entertained throughout the journey, especially on any rainy days that might crop up. The Norwegian Aqua is particularly well-suited for teenage guests, offering a variety of high-energy activities, social spaces, and thrilling attractions that keep them engaged from morning to night. Culinary Delights to Satisfy Every Palate Dining aboard the Norwegian Aqua is a gastronomic adventure. The ship introduces Sukhothai, Norwegian Cruise Line's first upscale Thai specialty restaurant, offering authentic dishes in a beautifully designed setting, this particular restaurant was created following feedback from guests, which show's NCL's commitment to guest satisfaction. For those seeking plant-based options, Planterie serves a variety of healthy bowls and dishes that delight the senses. Wine enthusiasts can unwind at the Swirl Wine Bar, a contemporary lounge featuring an extensive selection of wines by the glass and rare vintages. What sets this venue apart is its expertly curated wine flights, sommelier-led tastings, and a cosy yet sophisticated ambiance that makes it the perfect spot to savour a glass of fine wine while enjoying ocean views. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the food onboard—the flavours, presentation, and variety were simply amazing. My personal favourite was Hasuki, a lively Japanese specialty dining experience where guests sit around a sizzling hot grill as expert chefs prepare fresh, mouth watering dishes right before your eyes. The shrimp and scallops were especially good here! For guests with food allergies or dietary intolerances, the Norwegian Aqua is exceptionally accommodating. Surfside Café offers a variety of gluten-free options, including delicious pizza! Additionally, guests can arrange a meeting with the chef from each kitchen to discuss dietary needs, ensuring that every traveller can enjoy a worry-free dining experience tailored to their requirements. Luxurious Accommodations The Norwegian Aqua boasts the largest Haven Complex in the fleet, featuring the first-ever Three-Bedroom Duplex Haven Suites.
