Holidays can be a time to slow down and bring you back to yourself, or they can be a time to make you feel more alive. So often, the tensions from our everyday life can be dragged away with us, and it’s easy to let the holiday be a continuation of the daily routine. I think that holidays should be full of experiences you can escape to by remembering them when you’ve returned. The perfect holiday can be time-consuming and stressful to plan, but luckily I can do the hard work for you so you can switch-off or switch-on when the time comes.
I was born in New Zealand, grew up in Australia, and have lived in Oxfordshire, England, for over twenty years. My first trip abroad was to Hawaii and I have been travelling ever since. I worked for the Australian airline Qantas for ten years, which allowed me to see a lot of the world, but also to experience the supply-side of the travel industry.
Since then, I have worked in administration and project management, and have had to vent my passion for travel in the holidays I plan for family and friends. As a result, I usually ensure that there is a relaxation phase for my husband, an adventure phase for my children and a cultural phase for myself: I’ve organised a wine tour on horse-back in South Africa, a star-gazing session in the Pyrenees, a cooking lesson in Sicily, kayaking over underwater ruins in Turkey, massages overlooking the Andaman Sea in Thailand and white-water rafting in Montenegro! I can tailor your holiday to fit your needs and dreams.
Being a family of foodies, our trips are always studded with gastronomic highlights. I can recommend a surprise taster menu in Southern France, the top place for oysters in Sydney and the best gyoza in Tokyo. I think I must be doing something right, as my children are both at University and still come on family holidays! Whether you’re looking for weeks on a sandy beach with turquoise sea, a culture-filled city break or an adventure, creating your ideal holiday and keeping it stress-free for you is what I love to do.
Years travelling with Qantas, and years organising international trips have left me well-equipped to make sure that flights, transfers and other travelling-chores are made easy for you. Recently my sister had her bag and passport stolen in Spain and was unable to travel. Having a calm voice on the end of the phone who can sort out a new itinerary, make travel arrangements and relevant phone-calls when something goes wrong, is the sort of service that I can guarantee as a Travel Counsellor, whatever the time of day (or night).
So for your next holiday, please give me a call or email me to discuss it. I have been to some wonderful places, but there are many I would still love to visit (top of my list is Machu Picchu, Peru). As a Travel Counsellor I have over a thousand colleagues all over the world who can help me tailor-make your trip. You may be looking for some suggestions, or somewhere may have caught your imagination. Whatever you’re looking for, I can turn it into a reality for you.
I look forward to speaking to you soon
Debbie
