South Africa, Cape Town, Winelands and Garden Route Honeymoon.

Safari is often talked about when you consider where to go on Honeymoon and having been fortunate to enjoy a few, I would highly recommend it!

I can assist you with deciding where suits you best, this will mostly depend on the time of year, your budget and whether you want to spend more time on safari/exploring nature or whether you want a bit of variation.

South Africa is an excellent choice especially for first timers, starting off in the vibrant city of Cape Town.

Here is my most popular itinerary for Honeymoon couples going to South Africa including safari for the first time.

South Africa Honeymoon itinerary

Arriving from your flight, a driver will transfer you to the Winelands where you can enjoy stunning scenery, cuisine and surroundings.

Your car rental will be delivered to your hotel on day two so you can relax when you land and will be ready to explore the following day.

Winelands activities – jump aboard the vintage Winetram and explore the vineyards at leisure – book in advance. E-Bike tour – cycle through the Vineyards. Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve is excellent for hiking and cycling – the team will take great care of you. The Winelands offers a vast array of dining experiences some highlights are La Petit Ferme or for meat lovers, the Carnivore evenings at Babylonstoren are a must!

After you have had your fill of wine, stunning scenery and delightful food, you will move onto Safari.

The Big Five can be found in South Africa and naturally I have a few favourite game reserves that I love so here are my tried and tested suggestions. Sanbona Private Game Reserve – this is a luxurious five star reserve with accommodation ranging from a Manor House to luxury tented options. I have used this reserve for years and my honeymoon couples love it.

A super four star option is Garden Route Game Lodge, another reserve I use regularly that is driving distance from Cape Town and home to the BIG Five.

Depending how long you have in South Africa, you can drive along the Garden Route stopping off at Plettenburg and Knysna. With a plethora of activities, whether you want to kayak, hike, play golf or enjoy animal encounter this area is surrounded by stunning scenery.

From here you can either fly from George back to Cape Town or spend the day driving back, stopping off along the way to enjoy the view.

If you have time and want to relax, I would recommend flying to Mauritius for some relaxation.

There are direct flights between South Africa and Mauritius, making it the perfect combination.

Taking care of you – I work closely with a team of specialists based in South Africa. The team provide expert knowledge of the area whilst also supporting my clients during their stay. You will also have emergency contact numbers both locally and in the UK and Ireland should you require this during your trip.
