Amazing Abu Dhabi

I recently travelled to Abu Dhabi for a short taster trip and already want to plan a return trip to sample the delights in more depth!

I flew with the excellent Etihad Airways and, from the moment I checked in, the service I received was outstanding. I sampled both classes on board the aircraft; Economy Class (Coral) with complementary drinks on board and great catering, and Business Class (Pearl) with flat beds, private seating and anytime dining. It really does have the edge over other airlines!

Abu Dhabi is the largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates. It is one of the world’s wealthiest cities with modern skyscrapers, wide green spaces and a dramatic corniche built along the seashore. Despite its oil-based wealth and the growing tourism industry, Abu Dhabi hasn’t lost its traditions and culture. Just outside the city you’ll find oases, desert landscapes and the dramatic scenery of the Jebel Hafeet Mountains.

I visited quite a few properties, each with something different to offer. The ‘Eastern Mangroves by Anantara’ had only been open 24 hours when we arrived but it was very impressive. Due to its location out of the main city, it had a lovely feel of tranquillity and culture. I also stayed at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, which is located only 15 minutes from the airport and has a great range of facilities, including a private beach & chocolate cafe! There is definitely something for everyone.

For me, the most impressive hotel was the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, where every room had the wow factor! Although it’s quite an isolated property, transport is one of the few cheap commodities in Abu Dhabi and so it was easy to get around.

A couple of must see locations, that I would recommend whilst in Abu Dhabi, are Ferrari World and The Grand Mosque. Ferrari World is a place for all the family and features the fastest roller coaster in the world. The Mosque was one of the highlights of my trip as it was so beautiful and can fit over 40,000 people. It certainly was an amazing spectacle to behold.

I was sad to leave this amazing destination but I will definitely going back in the future. The stunning scenery and buildings, and the beautiful and extravagant hotels make this a destination that certainly won’t disappoint!
