Skiing Idea for 2023

As a keen (but not very good) Skier, Niederau, a small village in Wildschonau in Austria is an excellent choice if you are travelling with a group of mixed ability or as a Family. Having visited there with a group of friends I can say it really does have something for everyone.

We had a mixed group of Boarders and Skiers of varying abilities and the pistes offer a good range of blue, red and black runs. For those who have pro-skiers in their group, over on the Schatzberg side there is some fantastic off-piste skiing for those who dare!

If you have children there is a children's ski school on the gentle slopes just at the top of 1500 metre Gonola. And don't worry, there are also really good adult ski schools, if like me, you only started to learn as an adult or have never skied before.

The village itself has an old world friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a good selection of bars and restaurants, a number with a warm family feel. For those who wish for a lively après-ski experience head to the Cave bar where you can drink and dance the night away!

For those (like me) who may need a day off from the slopes the resort offers horse-riding, tobogganing and sleigh rides!

Neiderau is beautiful, so take a camera, you will capture some breath-taking shots! And it’s not just a Winter resort, I have family who have travelled there in Summer to experience the hiking and biking trails and the views are just as stunning no matter when you travel!
