Wintersun Break in Lanzarote

It has been a few years since we stayed in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, so we decided to have a 5 night break in March to get some Wintersun! When we have visited before, we stayed at the Princesa Yaiza hotel - Dreams Playa Dorada is right next door.

It goes to show how long it has been, as there wasn't really anything when you turn left coming out of the hotel on the promendade but this now takes you to Rubicon Marina. This area has a shopping centre and a good choice of restaurants. If you turn right and a short walk along the promenade is the town of Playa Blanca, which also has some nice restaurants and shops to mooch around. There is a lovely safe sandy (yellow) beach just in front of the hotel and you can hire beds and parasols. A couple of nice cafes to sit and watch the world go by too, or watch the sunset!

The hotel is larger than we would normally stay in, so we opted for the Preferred Club rooms (adult only) which gives you access to two exclusive pool areas, restaurant for breakfast and a lounge where you can help yourself to refreshments and snacks. We booked a pool view room, which had a good sized balcony, you could also see the sea! The rooms were nicely decorated and had the biggest TV screen I have ever seen a hotel room. The room comes with a coffee maker, mini bar that has water, coke, juice and beers, which are replenished once a day. It would have been nice to have had a couple of mini bottles of wine too.

We opted for Half Board as it wasn't that much more cost and on 3 of our nights, swapped dinner for lunch, so we could eat out. The food is good with lots of choice to cater for all requirements. The hotel also has themed restaurants, we ate in Sabor, which was very good and the service was excellent. There is a Spa, where you can have treatments, although like many hotels, the prices were high, compared to UK prices. A very large indoor pool, with Steam Room, Sauna and Jacuzzi.

The hotel has entertainment each night in the lobby bar area, which did get very busy and had limited seating inside. There were not that may kids during our stay but they do have a really nice area with pool, slides and playground/kids activities.

Overall a nice hotel in a good position in Playa Blanca.
