12 April 2018

Whether you are a family of intrepid adventurers, who like to spend hour after hour in the great outdoors, a family who enjoys exploring different cities and cultures, or you’re wild about nature, Canada really does have everything. There are many cities and national parks throughout Canada that are perfect for multi-generational entertainment, but we have put together a selection of our 8 favourite family-friendly adventures which are sure to delight everyone.

Ascend the CN Tower, Toronto

Soaring to 550 metres, a walk across the glass floor of the CN Tower will test the nerves of even the most adventurous children! Enjoy views of the picturesque Toronto Islands opposite and a birds-eye view of the Rogers Centre below. New for 2017, book on to the Edge Walk Experience for the ultimate test of nerves!

Visit Niagara Falls

Hop aboard the Maid of the Mist for a close-up view of this natural wonder. Children will love wearing their blue poncho as your journey begins by the calm Rainbow Bridge, with the excitement building as you pass the American and Bridal Veil Falls, until finally you feel the spray from the magnificent Horseshoe Falls.

TC Amanda had time to reflect during her trip to Niagara "As well as visiting Niagara Falls, there’s another place you have to visit while over in Niagara, and that’s Niagara on the Lake. Walk down to the lake and you will see such a calm lake. There’s no movement, the sun just shining and reflecting off the water. I just sat and collected my thoughts in an amazing surrounding."

Dig for fossils at the Royal Tyrell Museum, Alberta

Dinosaur enthusiasts can test their palaeontology skills at this fun and interactive museum. Dig up real fossils and bones at the Fossil Discovery Centre before taking a trip through prehistoric times on the Fossil Trail.

Get close to nature in British Columbia

Take to the seas on a whale-watching tour from Vancouver. See majestic orcas, humpback, grey and minke whales on their migratory route, as well as many sea birds including pelicans, puffins and bald eagles. Back on dry land, go on a guided bear-watching trip to witness grizzly and black bears in their natural environment.

Enjoy the great outdoors in Banff or Whistler

Find year-round entertainment for the whole family in these 2 fantastic areas of natural beauty. Go on a winter sports adventure or enjoy many activities including biking, rafting, horseback riding, hiking, canoeing, kayaking and fishing during the summer months. For stunning views of the lakes and mountains, go on a helicopter or gondola ride.

TC Caroline took her don Dylan to Whistler, and he loved it. "There really is so much to do in Whistler, Dylan and I went dog-sledding which, apart from being an amazing experience, was so interesting, learning about the dogs and their individual characters. You could be involved as much or as little as you wanted, I was quite happy to sit in the cosy sled wrapped up in blankets and let Dylan take the reins with our guide. There were plenty of stops for the dogs with free time off of the leads for the better behaved ones, who are keen to get in on your photo moments! "

Get hands-on at the Canadian Children’s Museum, Quebec

A great introduction to the rich diversity of culture and history all over the world, the interactive Canadian Children’s Museum in Quebec allows children to travel the world through exhibitions, costumes, hands-on props and artefacts.

Chill out on one of Vancouver’s fantastic beaches

Enjoy a great mix of city and beach life in Vancouver. Whether you’re looking for a beach that’s bustling with activities such as swimming, volleyball and tennis; or a quiet spot to relax and enjoy a family picnic or barbeque, Vancouver’s beaches have it all.

Visit Vancouver Island

Children of all ages will enjoy a trip to Vancouver Island. With attractions such as the Victoria Bug Zoo, the Lasercity Fun Centre and the fascinating Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre, everyone is catered for. Away from the hustle and bustle, stroll through beautiful Beacon Hill Park for water fountains, playgrounds, picnic areas and the world’s largest totem pole!
