Beach Bliss

06 August 2020

Vast open stretches of golden sand and shimmering azure blue waters that glisten in the sun. An image of the Maldives or Caribbean may spring to mind, but in the UK, you’ll find the same stunning beaches which evoke those holiday feelings as soon as you bury your toes in the sand.

Norfolk

With six Blue Flag beaches across North Norfolk alone, you can be sure that you’ll enjoy the best quality beaches with superb levels of cleanliness and safety. The stunning Holkham Beach is backed by dunes with a basin behind the shoreline which fills at high tide to create a spectacular lagoon. There are lots of species of flora and fauna to spot, from darting peregrines to vibrant orchids so be sure to pack the binoculars!

Brighton

Voted one of the top 10 city beach-break destinations in the world, Brighton is a legendary seafront location known for its vibrant culture and varied attractions. The beach itself is perfect for an active day of water sports such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding but there’s so much more to this delightful beachside city. The famous Brighton Pier, which dates back to the 1890s, houses rides and arcade games for children of all ages, or why not take a trip down memory lane with a visit to the Volks Railway, Britain’s oldest electric railway. For a quirky retail experience, head to North Laine where you'll find a wizarding outlet alongside vintage clothes shops and independent cafes.

Stroll along the beachfront and enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants and ice cream parlours. After dark, these seafront bars and clubs come to life, opening their doors as some of the best nightclubs in the country.

Good to know: Just steps from the infamous Brighton Beach is The Grand, perfect for a luxury stay by the sea. Stay in a spacious bedroom with unbeatable sea views and dine on the stylish sea-facing terrace. After a busy day exploring, head to the quirky bar with its sumptuous sofas and extensive cocktail menu.

Tenby

Probably the most iconic seaside town in Wales, Tenby has become a popular seaside resort with several beaches to choose from. Meander through the maze of narrow streets, each with delightful cafes and quaint shops to be discovered.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with three beautiful beaches in Tenby, each with its own character. One of the most photographed views in Wales, the north beach is the perfect spot for laying out your towel and catching some rays. The south beach is a dune-backed beach with plenty of space, whilst Castle Beach is a superb stretch of sand backed by the cliffs but make sure to check the tide times as the whole beach can disappear at high tide.

Good to know: Just a short drive from the centre of town, stay at the relaxed country-style Parsonage Farm Inn. Think good food and real ale with unique bedrooms including two-bedroom apartments to fit larger families.
