See Tarangire's renowned elephants

Your adventure begins in the breathtaking Tarangire National Park, home to one of East Africa's largest elephant populations, especially visible during the dry season when this itinerary is recommended. The Tarangire River serves as a lifeline, drawing them to its banks, their deep rumbles resonating across the land. Lions rest languidly in the shade of sausage trees, their presence almost palpable, and game drives reveal shimmering golden plains, where giraffes move gracefully and zebras graze.

Unwind with savannah views

At Lemala Mpingo Ridge Lodge, perched high on an escarpment overlooking the vast Tarangire Valley, you’ll wake to panoramic views stretching across undulating hills, as bird calls signal the start of another spectacular day. The spacious tented suites here are idyllic places to unwind, with inviting open-air bathtubs and sunken lounges that convert to afternoon siesta beds. And then there’s your private plunge pool, where you can cool off watching elephants roam the savannah below.

Discover the wildlife of the caldera

Your next stop is to explore the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest inactive volcanic caldera in the world. This unique ecosystem, encircled by steep crater walls, is alive with movement and sound.

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp’s close proximity to the crater and secluded setting in the lush highlands near the rim ensures unforgettable morning game drives within the to encounter rare black rhino and an astonishing array of birdlife, such as crowned cranes and flamingos, all thriving in this enclosed haven. Evenings back at the camp are magical, spent around a crackling fire as the distant calls of nocturnal wildlife serenade you.

The spectacle of the 'endless plains'

End your safari with the spectacle of the Serengeti. Lemala Nanyukie to the East is set in an area of high-density game-viewing year-round, well-known for its large concentration of cats and outstanding views across the ‘endless plains’ (the Masai meaning of the word ‘Serengeti’). Herds of wildebeest and zebras move in unison across the savannah, a sight you can witness right from the comfort of the camp or on a hot-air balloon ride.

Or, choose Lemala Kuria Hills – a more remote and private camp - close to the Mara River on the border with Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Its within the main corridor of the world-famous wildebeest migration between July and October.
