A Middle Eastern Journey

Let me take you on a Middle Eastern journey of ancient and modern times…

With over 7,000 years of fascinating history, traditions and culture, Ras Al Khaimah promises an authentic and easily accessible Arabian experience. A haven of year-round sunshine, the Emirate features pristine beaches, lush mangrove trees and terracotta dunes, as well as fertile, green oases and the dramatic, awe-inspiring vistas of the majestic Hajar mountains, including the UAE’s highest mountain peak – Jebel Jais, where temperatures are around 10 degrees lower than sea level.

Ras Al Khaimah is renowned for its outstanding nature, leisure, adventure and authentic offerings. With an extraordinary history dating back over seven millennia, the northernmost Emirate in the UAE has become one of the most sought-after destinations in the Middle East.

Getting to Ras Al Khaimah… Fly to Dubai airport and then transfer by road it’s only a 45-minute drive away. Once you’ve arrived in Ras al Khaimah there is so much to see and do; explore the sites, take in the views from the mountains, watch the sunset over the desert, relax beside the glittering sea on magical beaches or take part in the many activities on offer. Whatever you choose to do while you’re there, Ras Al Khaimah’s excellent connectivity makes it easy for you to get around.

Things to do… The coastline stretches over 64-kilometres, so with a natural backdrop of the turquoise waters of the Arabian Ocean, Ras Al Khaimah is a hotspot for all kinds of water sports, from jet skis and water skiing to breathtaking sailing cruises.

Take a ride through Jebel Jais on the much-anticipated Jais Sledder, the region’s longest toboggan ride located in the Jais Adventure Park. Reach speeds of up to 40km per hour as you descend the Hajar mountains, swerving through glorious panoramas covering 1840-metres in just 8 minutes!

Ras Al Khaimah has an extraordinary pearl fishing history that dates back over seven millennia. To celebrate the history of pearl fishing, Suwaidi Pearl Farm was opened. Embark on a fascinating journey aboard a traditional pearl fishing boat, open oysters and see if you hit the jackpot and find your very own Arabian pearl to take home and treasure.

At Manar Mall, the recently opened Luminaze is a playful art installation based on a light maze, and Flying Arch also at Manar Mall, is a 130-metre aerial structure where the wind creates a choreography of changing shape and color.

Where to stay… I’m often asked about all-inclusive hotels in Dubai, and whilst it really isn’t a thing there – it is in Ras Al Khaimah where there’s a choice of all-inclusive hotels offering cotemporary styling with the warm hospitality of authentic Arabia.

There’s a dominance of 4* and 5* beach front properties with fabulous Arabian Ocean views offering B&B, half-board or all-inclusive. Big name beach front hotels are available from Hilton, Doubletree by Hilton, Intercontinental, Radisson, Rixos, Waldorf Astoria, Ritz Carlton – Ritz Carlton also offer a desert hotel which makes a fabulous twin centre experience.

Ras Al Khaimah is a liberal and modern Emirate, offering the perfect getaway from everyday life, a place that gives you the best of all worlds, with something for all ages and budgets – all year round.
