Discover family adventures in Majorca

Nestled in the heart of the Balearics, Majorca is a playground of picturesque beaches, crystal-clear waters, and endless adventures, making it the perfect destination for young families. It's a breezy, short-haul flight away and the temperature is warm, not scorching, with balmy temperatures even out of the busy tourist season. Despite its grand title as the biggest of the Balearic siblings, Majorca is surprisingly cosy; you can drive across it in under two hours, discovering pockets of charm and waves of warm welcomes from the locals.

Discover family adventures in Majorca

Perfect for outdoorsy families, Majorca offers a whole array of water sports for all ages, including sailing, paragliding, waterskiing, bodysurfing, sailing, and glass-bottomed boat rides. There are also lots of prestigious regattas in the Bay of Palma you can watch, including the Trofeo Princesa Sofía and the Copa del Rey – exciting events that make for great family days out.

During your holiday, don’t miss the many must-visit waterparks in Majorca. Among the best are Western Water Park in Magaluf, which is Wild West-themed and includes several thrill slides, as well as aqua-play areas for younger kids, and Aqualand El Arenal, the biggest water park on the island, with more adrenaline-rush slides as well as calmer raft rides.

There are plenty of other things to explore in Majorca, including Palma, the island’s vibrant capital with its winding labyrinthine alleys and vintage train rides to Sóller. Palma is a great place to sit in a square until late into the evening, watching the world go by and making the most of Palma‘s great restaurant scene with a late meal with the kids. Another fun foodie experience to try with the kids is browsing local food markets, tasting local flavours along the way – the ones in Santa Maria and Pollença stand out.

Majorca also has a fabulous range of accommodation suitable for families. There are a lot of modern, child-friendly hotels and resorts, from boutique options to larger-scale offerings with a whole raft of facilities, such as kids' pools and entertainment for all ages. One of our favourites for families, the Ikos Porto Petro opened in 2023 as the first of this famous brand in the Balearics, in a superb spot beside Mondragó Natural Park and the cosmopolitan Porto Petro Marina.

But for those who prefer the flexibility, freedom, and space of a self-catering property, Majorca also has a splendid choice of apartments and villas, with something to suit all tastes and budgets – some with their own pools. Head inland, close to traditional villages that give you a glimpse of ‘the real Majorca’ or stay closer to or on the coast to take advantage of all that seaside fun.
