Discover tropical island bliss in the Maldives

Imagine the run of a white-sand beach and turquoise lagoon all to yourselves for half a day. You can spend your time snorkelling, relaxing, and tucking into a creative picnic basket prepared by the resort chefs without another soul in sight. It’s all part of a castaway sandbank experience at the Sun Siyam Iru Veli.

Discover tropical island bliss in the Maldives

This luxury resort, with its premium all-inclusive offering, is part of the ground-breaking Sun Siyam group, which stands out in the Maldives for being 100% locally owned and run, and deeply rooted in its communities under the helm of its visionary founder, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed. Sun Siyam Iru Veli also holds the Travelife certification for its environmental efforts – something our guests are increasingly looking for when they visit this part of the world.

A sustainable resort

The Travelife Gold Certification has been awarded to Sun Siyam Iru Veli for a whole array of forward-thinking initiatives it has committed to, including reducing energy and water use, reducing plastic use, supporting community development, investing in renewable energy, conservation, and the preservation of local heritage and cultural practices.

Of course, a lot of this important work goes on behind the scenes, but you can see it in action on Sun Siyam’s farm islands, which support local communities as well as reducing the resort’s carbon footprint. These farms grow nearly 40 varieties of fruits and vegetables, including bananas, coconuts, cucumbers, papayas, and tomatoes. Farmers will talk you through their work before you get to sample their wares at the freshest of lunches at the farm itself.

Indulge with the premium all-inclusive plan

Sun Siyam Iru Veli’s exceptionally generous Signature Plan is another big reason we love this resort – and why you’ll fall in love with it too. Embracing food and drink in six restaurants and bars (including the poolside Fresh Water with its Maldivian favourites), it also includes decadent afternoon teas, and a daily-replenished minibar.  Excursions that are also part of this impressive plan include a local island trip, a dolphin sunset cruise, guided snorkelling, use of kayaks and paddleboards, and a half-hour group windsurfing lesson.

You’ll also enjoy a jet ski credit of $50 per adult, per stay, and either a credit of $100 for a treatment in the gorgeous spa with its cocooning overwater pavilions, or up to three regular dives per person per week. You will also benefit from complimentary VIP access to Sun Siyam’s lounge at the seaplane terminal after touchdown in the Maldives.

If you come with the kids, meanwhile, there’s a complimentary kids’ club, plus vast amounts to do together, including table tennis, badminton, and beach volleyball. This is also a fantastically sociable resort for those who love to mingle, with events including an outdoor cinema under the star-studded sky, and weekly beach barbecues.

But there’s also an intimate, secluded feel to it all - there are just 125 well-spaced-out beach and water villas and suites, airy and contemporary, all with their own freshwater plunge or swimming pool, and some are situated right on the beachfront.
