There is plenty of wildlife to marvel at on the agenda too, thanks to a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park with its elephants, leopards and deer, and a boat safari on the Senanayake Samudraya reservoir in the Gal Oya National Park, where you might spot elephants swimming from one island to another and possibly crocodiles, as well as abundant birdlife. "This unbelievable tour had us hiking up ancient rock forts, exploring the jungle and hanging out with wild elephants," explains Katie. "I’ve fallen deeply in love with Sri Lanka; the landscapes, the food, the nature, the culture but, most importantly, the people."
