Over almost three action-packed weeks, Borealis will sail from the UK to tour the sun-drenched Mediterranean and Adriatic, taking in destinations including Gibraltar, Malta, Croatia and Montenegro – giving you the chance to understand how these remarkable regions were shaped through time.
Their long and turbulent histories are marked by conflicts including the Punic wars involving the Romans and Phoenicians/Carthaginians, World War II and the Yugoslav Wars. There's also a fabulous array of architecture to admire and some superb landscapes to soak in.
Among the highlights of the sailing will be discovering the Roman sites of Cartagena in the company of a local archaeologist*, marvelling at the waterfalls and other natural wonders of Croatia’s Krka National Park, and tasting pasteis de nata and some of the other foodie delights of Lisbon. You’ll also be able to delve into the history of the Phoenicians at Carthage from La Goulette while two ports of call in in Croatia will give you the chance to visit Diocletian’s Palace in Split and the world-famous walls of Dubrovnik.
Borealis will also cruise the Montenegro’s gorgeous fjord-like Bay of Kotor to reach the fortified town of the same name. As you approach this magical setting of towering peaks and rocky coastlines sprinkled with waterside towns, Borealis’ onboard experts will provide commentary on the magnificent Orjen Mountains to the west and Lovćen mountains to the east, as well architectural and natural sights including the serene St George Benedictine Monastery on its tiny islet in the bay..

Free door to door transfer: This door-to-door transfer offer is up to a maximum of 250 UK mainland miles, for those guests on cruise S2412. Any additional mileage must be paid to the transport provider (CMAC) at the time of booking. Guests may be required to share the transport for all or part of the journey, when an appropriate vehicle will be provided. Once the complimentary transport has been confirmed by the provider, charges will apply if fail to take this arrangement without cancelling with the transport provider. The door-to-door service is one transfer (each way) per booking for all guests, from the lead guest address. Outbound and inbound mileage cannot be combined should you only require transfer one-way.
