How to spend an unforgettable week in Bermuda

The heart and soul of Bermuda can be found in its people, colourful towns, and breathtaking natural beauty. From historic streets and lively waterfronts to hidden swimming holes and pink-sand beaches, the island is full of experiences that reveal its unique character. This week-long itinerary takes inspiration from Bermuda’s cultural routes while giving you time to discover the island’s history, natural wonders, and spectacular coastline at a relaxed pace.

How to spend an unforgettable week in Bermuda

Days 1 & 2 - Explore the East

Begin your Bermudian adventure in the historic town of St. George’s, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest English settlements in the Americas. Wander the narrow-cobbled streets, admire pastel-coloured buildings, and discover landmarks such as St. Peter’s Church, the oldest Anglican church still in use outside the British Isles. Continue exploring the town’s historic squares, museums, and charming cafés before stopping for lunch overlooking the harbour. In the afternoon, head to Tobacco Bay, where calm turquoise waters make it one of the island’s best snorkelling spots.

On your second day on the east of the island, explore the lush trails of Walsingham Nature Reserve, often nicknamed ‘Tom Moore’s Jungle’. Hidden within the reserve is Blue Hole Park, a dreamy turquoise swimming spot surrounded by mangroves and caves. Finish the day with dinner and a classic rum swizzle – Bermuda’s signature cocktail.

Days 3 & 4 - Wander the West

Travel west along the island’s scenic South Shore, stopping along the way for spectacular views of Bermuda’s famous pink-sand beaches. Your destination is the historic Royal Naval Dockyard, once the headquarters of the British Royal Navy in Bermuda. Today, it’s one of the island’s most lively cultural hubs, filled with museums, galleries, shops, and restaurants.

Spend the day exploring the National Museum of Bermuda, where exhibits bring the island’s maritime past to life. Nearby, you can browse local art at the craft markets or enjoy lunch in one of the converted historic warehouses.

Day four is the perfect time to see Bermuda from the water. Set sail on a boat or sunset cruise across the Great Sound, where the island’s coastline glows in shades of pink and gold as the sun dips below the horizon.

Day 5 - Discover natural wonders

Bermuda isn’t just beautiful above ground - some of its most spectacular sights lie beneath the surface. Spend the day exploring the island’s famous limestone caverns at Crystal Cave and Fantasy Cave. Wooden walkways lead you over crystal-clear underground lakes while dramatic stalactites hang from the cavern ceiling, creating an otherworldly landscape.

For those who prefer to explore on foot or two wheels, Bermuda’s compact size makes it ideal for hiking and cycling. One of the best ways to experience the island’s natural beauty is along the Bermuda Railway Trail, an 18-mile scenic path that follows the route of a historic railway and winds through stunning landscapes, coastal cliffs, and peaceful neighbourhoods. Wander through the shaded trails of Walsingham Nature Reserve, where mangroves, limestone formations, and crystal-clear swimming holes reveal another side of Bermuda’s remarkable landscape.

Days 6 & 7 - Sightsee the city and relax by the sea

Finish your week in Bermuda’s lively capital, Hamilton, where colourful waterfront buildings overlook a bustling harbour. Start your morning with coffee at a local café before exploring Front Street’s boutiques, galleries, and restaurants. Take a self-guided walk through the city’s street murals and stop for photos along the marina.

If you’re visiting during summer, Wednesday evenings bring a lively street festival to Front Street, where local vendors, live music, and traditional Bermuda Gombeys fill the streets with colour and rhythm.

Spend your final day unwinding along Bermuda’s South Shore. Relax on the iconic pink sands of Horseshoe Bay, one of the island’s most famous beaches, where gentle waves and dramatic coastal scenery provide the perfect farewell to the island.

The best places in Spain to see the 2026 solar eclipse

11 March 2026

On 12th August 2026, Spain will take centre stage for one of the most anticipated astronomical events in Europe, the solar eclipse. As the Moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun, parts of the country will slip briefly into darkness, turning a summer evening into twilight for up to almost two minutes. The eclipse will sweep across Spain from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean, with northern cities and the Balearic Islands sitting right in the path of totality, the only places where the Sun will be completely covered. If you’re planning a trip around the event, Spain offers plenty of places where you can pair the spectacle in the sky with great food, coastal views, and a bit of exploring before the big moment.
