Hurtigruten’s 130th Anniversary

We’re delighted to announce that one of our favourite cruise lines, Hurtigruten, is offering fantastic savings of up to 50% with bookings made before 15th July on its classic voyages along the Norwegian coastline (one of the world’s longest), in celebration of its 130 years as the original coastal voyage.

You’ll sail from cosmopolitan Bergen in the south to the edge of Europe at the North Cape and Kirkenes, then back again. In July and August, the days are endless north of the Arctic Circle thanks to the the Midnight Sun with its perpetual daylight along the entire Norwegian coastline. Alternatively, sail between October and February for magically crisp white snow reflecting the polar twilight, quaint coastal communities glowing like fires in the darkness and sighting of the Northern Light (Hurtigruten’s voyages even come with a Northern Lights Promise giving guests a second opportunity to experience the Aurora Borealis if it don’t appear first time around).

Coastal Express – Classic Voyage South

Sailing 27th Sept; 6-day itinerary

Hurtigruten’s classic journey treats you to some of the most magnificent scenery of the Norwegian coast, including Senja, the Vesterålen archipelago, the Lofoten Islands, and the Helgeland Coast. Along the way you’ll likely spot whales and a whole array of Arctic birds including white-tailed sea eagles and many migratory species. You can also join two optional hikes and up to 20 optional seasonal excursions, including a tour of the Lofoten Islands by boat or a horseback ride to a picturesque beach. Between May and October the ship may also visit Trollfjord on this voyage, entering the narrow fjord and performing a 180° manoeuvre.

Svalbard Express

Only launched in June 2023, the Svalbard Express travels the world’s northernmost permanent populated area, Longyearbyen in Svalbard. It’s a nostalgic voyage that reprises the route of one of Norway’s best-loved sailing routes (which operated in 1968–1982), and will include some of the Norwegian coast’s most popular destinations, such as the Lofoten Islands, Vesterålen and North Cape. The round-trip takes 14 days to take you up to the ‘edge of the world’, the Svalbard archipelago in the High Arctic, and back . As well as enjoying life aboard the exceptionally designed MS Trollfjord, you’ll visit charming coastal communities on mainland Norway and on Svalbard and choose from among a number of authentic, locally run excursions  . At the height of the season, you’ll experience 24 hours of daylight courtesy of the Midnight Sun.

North Cape Express

Sailing 6th Dec; 14-day itinerary

Launching on 26 September 2023, this iconic experience along the Norwegian coast from Bergen to North Cape will conclude in Oslo – marking Hurtigruten Norway’s first-ever regular sailings to the capital. It will also take in the country’s southernmost and northernmost points, Hardangerfjord and gorgeous coastal cities and towns. Thrilling seasonal excursions involve local communities across a range of latitudes and include the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.
